Although this year is fully underway, there comes a time when the beginning of September is seen as a “day of a new beginning.” In the scholastic academic year, as well as the liturgical calendars of the Eastern Orthodox churches, the arrival of September is recognized as such. In some ways, it is truly a new, unfounded experience. In other ways, it merely offers us a continuation of the older ways and routines.

As much as I regret to see the summer season end, the commencement of another semester of university routine offers challenges as well as promises. This is the first year in the last five years that classes commence with a working professor in every position in my particular school! Hooray! Hopefully, this will continue throughout the year.

There is no time to mourn the passing of this season. The consolation is that we still have three weeks before the autumn officially arrives. Time to get busy and make the remainder of the summer memorable!
Naked hugs!
