Here it is, the end of my third month of publishing ReNude Pride! It seems like only yesterday that I was writing my first post here on a blustery, frigid and snowing Saturday morning, in the beginning of a new year, and now we’re into the Spring season of 2017. Time flies and it does offer some wonderful and fun times. One of the better aspects of blogging is the connections it affords in linking with a fantastic crowd of exciting bare practitioners (naturists/nudists). The camaraderie alone makes the barren winters bearable!
Pictured above is my BPM (bare practitioner of the month), Kenn Campbell-Harris, author of the blog, Gay Black Nudist (click title to visit his site). I discovered his online journal early this past January and he’s a talented writer and a true nude prince! He’s an American and is currently living in Thailand with his husband. Back in January, when I posted my End of Month Reflections (click to view), Kenn gallantly volunteered to grant me this interview. That’s one of many reasons why I consider him a true nude prince!
Tomorrow, March 25, is Greek Independence Day. This celebration marks the date in 1821, when the peoples who live in what is now Greece, rose up in revolt against the Turkish occupiers of their homeland. A protracted war ensued that culminated in the eventual establishment of the modern state of Greece. I am posting this brief history in anticipation of the religious feast day and the national holiday.
This day (March 25) is the Feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary, Mother of God) in the Greek Orthodox Church. This feast commemorates the Archangel Gabriel appearing to the Virgin Mary and announcing to her that she will bear the son of God. The organizers of the early Greek revolt selected this feast day to begin the insurrection.
Here in the Northern Hemisphere, today is officially the first day of the Spring of 2017! We managed to somehow survive another barren winter and are eager to begin the season of renewal and rebirth! Most of us are savvy enough to realize that just because today is the beginning of the new season, it doesn’t mean that it’s even remotely possible for all of us to strip off our winter clothing and go prancing about in bare abandon.
Although I’m not Irish, it is very difficult to live in today’s world and not be aware that this is the day when all Irishmen consider the rest of the world as Irish, also! Today is St. Patrick’s Day, the feast day of the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick is the man attributed with driving the snakes out of Ireland and converting many of the indigenous people there to the Roman Catholic faith. It’s also a day where Irishmen everywhere celebrate their heritage and its many legends and heroes.
In elementary school, we were required to memorize poetry in English then stand up in front of our class and recite the poem using American Sign Language (ASL). The purpose of this exercise was to teach us, as Deaf students, the ability to translate from English into ASL and to learn the essentials of English. This poem, The Daffodils, was one of those poems and I remember well the difficulties that I had committing it to memory.
On both my “About“ (click to view) page and through my postings here on ReNude Pride, I’ve written extensively of my husband, Aaron, and our lives together. What may, or may not, be known by others is that we are a multiracial couple. Aaron is African-American (black) and I am Greek (white). Race was never an issue for either one of us, nor our families, although we have encountered racism when we first lived together and since we’ve been married.
I recently upgraded ReNude Pride from a free website blog to a personal one. This upgrade entitled me to a free web domain name that no longer requires the “WordPress.com” portion of my old address. Hence, my new web domain is now: ReNudePride.com. I am assured by the powers that be that all requests for the old address will automatically be routed to the new address. We’ll see how true that will be.
An acquaintance and I had a discussion maybe two months ago and the title question was the subject of our discourse. I’m unsure as to how the topic arose, but he was adamant that “there is no such thing as a modest nudist.” He continued his tirade with the statement that all nudists are closeted exhibitionists so the two cannot be compatible. I work with this individual and he is aware that in my leisure time, I am a bare practitioner (naturist/nudist).
