On this date, July 1, 1867, the British North America Act went into effect and created the Dominion of Canada, uniting the separate colonies of Canada, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The act formally divided the province of Canada into two different provinces, English-speaking Ontario and French-speaking Quebec. The self-governing Canada retained Queen Victoria as sovereign Queen of Canada, a role continued to this very day by her great-great granddaughter, H.M. Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada.

Over the years, Canada has expanded from the northeast geographic area into a large nation bordered between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and south of the Arctic Circle. The national languages are both English and French!

Best wishes for a very happy and safe Canada Day!
Naked hugs!

Author’s Note: The next planned post entry here is for Sunday, July 4, 2021, and the proposed topic is “Happy USA Day!”
Hello Roger, sadly many Canadians will not be celebrating Canada Day this year after the remains of hundreds of indigenous children were found in BC at a former residential school. More likely to be found across Canada.
Ottawa is currently flying the flag at half mast but it is not enough to make up for a past that can never be erased.
It is a somber day for many.

Yes, I had read several news articles about the tragic discovery and the pain that many are experiencing. Sympathies to everyone. Thank you for commenting about this, Fabien. 🙂
