A Gentle Reminder!
VOTE!
This is our opportunity to perform our duty and restore dignity, honesty, integrity and responsibility to our government and to this nation! It is our chance to remind all three branches of our government (executive, judicial and legislative) that they are accountable for all of their respective actions/inactions!
For far too long, under the current national standard, our government is acting without any regards to the people they supposedly represent. Now is the time for us to perform our duty and remind them that they have an obligation to be decent and trustworthy of the obligations they have agreed to provide!
Equality for All!
On the Virginia ballot for this election is a measure to remove the state constitutional amendment that outlawed same gender marriage. The wording of the measure is as follows:
“Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to a) remove the ban on same sex marriage, b) affirm that two adults may marry regardless of sex, gender or race and c) require all legally valid marriages to be treated equally under the law?”
A vote of yes on this measure ensures the continued legality of marriage equality throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia for all residents. Please vote yes!
A vote of yes rescinds an amendment enacted that restricts the state in recognizing any marriage except ones uniting one man and one woman. Voting yes aligns the Commonwealth of Virginia with the Supreme Court judgments enabling marriage equality throughout the USA and selected dependent territories (colonies).
Therefore, it the current supreme court (intentional lower case) – which is extremely politically influenced and motivated – reverses the decision (as happened recently with the illegality of abortion), the legality of the current ban against marriage equality will not be automatically restored. The entire involved and lengthy process of proposing, voting and public referendum will have to be repeated – again! This additional time could provide room for different justices to assume office.
Once again, please vote yes!
