This Sunday, May 14, 2017, is Mother’s Day in the USA. As the name suggests, it is the day set aside for all of us to remember our mothers. It is also a time to reflect on the duties and responsibilities of motherhood and to honor all the women who perform those duties and responsibilities endlessly, tirelessly and lovingly. This is their day to be saluted and commended for being themselves.
My own mother is special to me, to my seven brothers and all our spouses. She made our family what it is today and we all owe her our tremendous gratitude. It wasn’t easy being a mother to eight sons – but she persevered and did her job to the best of her ability.
I know that my identical twin brother, Alex, and I didn’t make her task any easier for her. Not only were we twins, but we’re both Deaf and we fought her repeatedly over having to wear clothes. Even as toddlers we both knew that we preferred nudity over being textile (clothes-wearing). As soon as she dressed us, we were busy figuring out how to take them off.
Mom, we didn’t make life pleasant for you at times. But you never stopped loving us or believing in us. We are your family and we’re all grateful for all you’ve done.
Happy Mother’s Day, to all the mothers everywhere!

Give your mother and extra big hug from me ( she doesn’t need to know why). I lost my mom 5.5 years a week before Christmas. She was so dear to me. As I had moved away with my partner (now husband) years ago I only got to see her twice a year.
Stay bare my friend and Naked Hugs
