Tomorrow: World Naked Garden Day

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 4, 2019, is the celebration of World Naked Garden Day throughout the Northern Hemisphere. As warming Spring temperatures now envelope practically all of the hemisphere, the gardening season beckons many of the residents to shed their garments and to get busy restoring nature! The time period for outdoor growth hasn’t changed so its best to get bare, get outside and enjoy while the weather is cooperative!

World Naked Garden Day was first observed in 2005 thus making this year it’s fifteenth annual event. The first years of observance the date varied from year to year and in 2007, the date was officially changed to the first Saturday in May, annually. This uniform date allows the maximum of growing season for most gardens located north of the Equator.

In winter when the trees are bare, we mortals don our winter wear.

In spring, when trees begin to dress, we mortals then start wearing less.

Until, for some, with summer’s heat, the role reversal is complete.

It really makes no difference what type of work is done outside on World Naked Garden Day. The activities can be as varied as re-planting indoor plants into larger pots, planting outdoor plants, lawn mowing, vegetable planting and landscaping. As long as we’re bare, the sky’s the limit! The important aspect to remember is to remain as clothes-free as possible and to enjoy the day!

A suggestion to enhance your World Naked Garden Day experience is to invite some friends over to join you. If it is a friend who isn’t comfortable being socially nude, it is a terrific way to increase both his comfort and his confidence. It allows him to be clothes-free without him feeling that others are staring at his nudity. Knowing that others are focusing on gardening – along with himself – helps to reduce his tension and to help him relax.

While many take this opportunity to focus on their outdoor gardens, either flowers or vegetables, my spouse, Aaron, and I focus on our indoor plants while we enjoy doing so outside. We live in a condominium complex and do not have the luxury of outdoor garden space. What we do, instead, is re-plant into larger clay pots our indoor plants while doing this on our outdoor balcony.

For the past several years, Aaron and I invite some of our bare practicing (naturist or nudist) friends over to join us on our balcony and re-plant their indoor plants along with us. We do this in the morning on World Naked Garden Day and Aaron prepares a generous lunch to serve, also on the balcony, after the project is complete. To ensure our privacy, we hang sheets on our balcony rail so that none of us upset our neighbors with our nudity.

Of course, none of us would be upset if any of our neighbors actually saw our nakedness. Actually, that view might encourage them to strip off their clothing and join us!

A same gender loving (gay) bare practitioner (nudist) who invites you to explore my blog. At times I may appear irreverent but I am in no way irrelevant!

  1. April has been very warm and too dry in Sweden, but at the change to May the weather changed to ”very cold” for the season, today +3 Centigrade. The forecast for the 4th is +6 centigrade, so the conditions for World Naked Gardening Day are not favourable. The day set for the event is too early for us in the north. But we will catch up for it during our long summer days, when the sun sets for only a short while or never (in the northern part of Sweden).
