Nudescape is a word that I use to describe a perfect vista (view). Of course, in my own prejudiced perspective, no “nudescape” is perfect unless it also contains the view of a naked/nude man. Actually, “nudescape” is a combination word, nude + landscape = nudescape. In other words, a nude view of a nude with a view. It just doesn’t get any better than the picture above. No clothing whatsoever and idyllic, if not perfect, surroundings.
The Summer offers many opportunities for appreciation and sharing of the variety of nudescapes available online by a endless assortment of contemporary photographers, either amateur or commercial. Most of these are natural scenes that are enhanced by the bare images of their respective subjects. Uninhibited nudity and summertime are both compatible and complimentary.
Of all the scenes depicting the season of summer, one that has almost universal appeal across every culture are those of the ocean surf. No matter where anyone lives and irregardless of the proximity to the ocean and beach, these scenes convey the freedom of summers and the carefree spirit of human nature. There’s no mistaking any of these photographs for anything other than what they truly are: bare and proud men enjoying the sand, sun and surf provided by nature.
Of course, there are always those among us nude practitioners (naturists/nudists) who simply can’t resist the temptations of playing in the sand. But that’s cool – there’s plenty of sand on the beaches to play with and keep them busy! Besides, all that sandy covering is easy to recycle: just rinse it off in the ocean. It doesn’t get any environmentally-friendlier than that!
Not every single nudescape is always of a natural setting. The fact that we’re au naturel and outdoors makes practically any photograph “natural” and thus, a nudescape. The community of same gender loving (gay) bare practitioners is diverse and not all men prefer a natural body of water. Some, for whatever reason, like a pool better than a lake, ocean or river. To each their own.
Sometimes a man-made pool provides a more pristine environment, especially for a photographer; in my own opinion, I appreciate the beauty of our natural world over the “sanitized” view of a man-made pool (although the above pictures do offer a colorful display). In the Northern Hemisphere, we have to spend enough time inside our homes during the winter. In summer, I want to be outdoors as much as possible.
The quiet dignity of a man in a completely peaceful setting, one in harmony with both our natural, uncovered body and our uncluttered, natural world captures the essence, the spirit, of a nudescape. The tranquility alone makes the scene and brings to mind the old adage, a picture is worth a thousand words. It should be understood by everyone reading here that a bare man only enhances this message!
I need to add here that my definition of nudescape isn’t limited to aquatics exclusively. A nudescape involves any past-time that a person chooses to engage in while clothes-free. The activity and the scene depicted do not necessarily have to appeal to every person specifically. Like any piece of art, its appeal or appreciation is solely determined by the individual viewer.
Summers anywhere, whether the Northern or Southern Hemispheres, can usually become chaotic and hectic. Hopefully, these nudescapes can offer a moment of serenity as we all rush about enjoying this all-to-short season!
