To commemorate St. Valentine’s Day together, take a photographic “selfie” (self picture) of you and your significant other, boyfriend, or spouse. This tiny gesture not only says “I love you” more than words can ever convey but it also serves as a visual reminder of where you are and who you’re with on Valentine’s Day, 2019. Caution: you may not want to save a bare image of you and your man on your phone, especially if you allow others to use it!
If the two of you have a bromantic (boy + romantic) get-away planned for the weekend, ask a friend or other couple to take a picture of the two of you together just enjoying yourselves and more importantly being yourselves, two men in love! It doesn’t need to be a spectacular pose. Just the two of you having fun – whatever you enjoy – is enough.
Valentinus is the name associated with this celebration of love although there is little historical evidence of either his martyrdom or canonization. In fact, there is some doubt as to whether he even lived.
and it gets better and better over time!
“True Love always brings joy to ourselves and the one we love. If our love does not bring joy to both of us, it is not true love.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh~
In honor of this day of bromance (boy + romance) and love, there are a few poetic excerpts below to help create the mood. Unbridle your passion and follow your heart today. Show that special man in your life precisely how much you love him!
“With looks disheveled,
flushed in a sweat of drunkenness
His shirt torn open,
a song on his lips and wine cup in his hand
With eyes looking for trouble,
lips softly complaining,
So at midnight last night he came and sat on my pillow…”
~ Hafiz ~ (circa 1320-1389)
“I give you my hand!
I give you my love, more precious than money,
I give you myself, before preaching or law;
Will you give me yourself? Will you come travel with me?
Shall we stick by each other as long as we life?”
~ Walt Whitman ~ “Song Of The Open Road”
“Children of the future age,
Reading this indignant page,
Know that in a former time,
Love, sweet love, was thought a crime!”
~ William Blake ~ (1757-1827)
All human actions are motivated at their deepest level by two emotions – fear or love. In truth there are only two emotions – only two words in the language of the soul…fear wraps our bodies in clothing, love allows us to stand naked. Fear clings to and clutches all that we have, love gives all that we have away. Fear holds close, love holds dear. Fear grasps, love lets go. Fear rankles, love soothes. Fear attacks, love amends. ~ Neale Donald Walsch ~
“Love was a delicious blend of warm and cold. There was comfort in making love. It solved no problems: but one could run away from problems.” ~ Larry Niven ~
Happy Valentine’s Day, 2019!
