This weekend is the Memorial Day weekend here in the USA. Monday is a national holiday which makes this the first 3-day weekend of the 2018 Summer season. Summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21 but most meteorologists recognize this long weekend as the the unofficial beginning of the season of sand, sun and surf. The sunlight is at its zenith and so are the opportunities for sunburn – the skin discomfort as evidenced on the back of the gentleman in the above picture.

Skinny-Dipping Season!
At last, Spring-like temperatures have finally arrived and now our thoughts turn to those amazing trips to the beach. It doesn’t really matter where the beach is located, by the ocean, the sea, the lake or a river. What’s important in our minds is that wherever it is, the sunshine, warm temperatures and the water will be there as will the number of men who are parading their bare bodies as we all rejoice in the ability to skinny-dip (swim naked) outdoors again among our nude brethren!
Hospitality
When invited to be guests in the home of friends, it is important to respect their wishes and in turn, expect them to respect us. This is a matter of common courtesy and treating others as we, ourselves, would like to be treated. In the above photo, the “welcome” mat in front of the door sends a clear and irrefutable message. We are about to enter into the home of a bare practitioner (naturist/nudist). The sandals are politely placed beside the greeting. The message is plain and simple.
The Bare Prince
Most of us can recall the 2012 incident where Prince Harry was surreptitiously caught unawares and totally bare (naked, nude) in a hotel room in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The entire affair saturated the media for almost a week and earned the ginger royal and naked highness a stern, private rebuke from his grandmother, H. M. Queen Elizabeth II. It seems that nudity was not considered appropriate behavior for a person of his rank and stature as a scion of the Windsor Dynasty. However, no one lost their head in the matter and his grandmother is still queen.
World Naked Gardening Day
Tomorrow, Saturday, May 5, 2018, is World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD). Observed on the first Saturday in May, annually, this is the day in which everyone is encouraged to do their gardening tasks while completely clothes-free. World Naked Gardening Day was first celebrated in 2005 and this year marks it’s 14th year. The occasion was always on an agreed date and in 2007, it was decided to keep the date on the first Saturday of May. No matter what our gardening needs are, this is as good a time as any to get things in order.
Bottom’s Up! April, 2018
Today is the last day of April, 2018. The end of the first full-month of Spring, 2018. For a while, it seemed as though this month was going to be an extension of the Winter here in the Mid-Atlantic region the East Coast, USA. Then, apparently, Mother Nature read the memo stating that Winter was officially over and seasonal weather is at last appearing in our area. The powers-that-be need to work on improving their communication network.
Reflections: End of April, 2018
April has come and gone. One of the shortest months of the year, it is the very shortest month of the Spring season. June is another 30-day month but as Summer arrives on June 21, it technically isn’t an entirely Spring month. What matters most, at least in my humble opinion, is that the weather becomes warmer and the daylight lasts longer. At long last, the outdoor temperatures here have finally turned pleasant. This is absolutely my time of the year!
Read and Heed!
There are always signs that remind us of policies and rules wherever we go. It seems that it has become a routine to remind all of us as to what is or what isn’t allowed. It should come as no major surprise to anyone reading or visiting here that Aaron, my spouse, and I have one posted on the front door of our condominium that reads identical to the one above. Aaron found it at a conference that he attended shortly after we got married in 2015.
Earth Day, 2018 Weekend!
By now, almost all of us are familiar with the image of a person hugging a tree representing environmentalists. It is used by many as either a positive identifier or else as a derogatory graphic. As we become better acquainted with the knowledge and effects of global warming, this image also serves as a reminder of the fragile relationship between our environment and humanity. This same picture accurately depicts the primary message of the entire Earth Day movement: This is our world, we all need to work together to protect it.
I’m Unbound!
Author’s Note: Please refer to my previous post, “In A Bind,” (click to view) as an introduction to this post.
Finally all my discomfort, profanity and overall foul attitude has achieved some sort of result. This past weekend, the weather and the temperatures here on the East Coast of the USA has changed. We went from almost Winter-like conditions to almost Summer weather all within the span of maybe twenty-four hours. I’m just egocentric enough to take full credit for this change in our meteorological circumstance!
