Somewhere, I guess in a comment on a previous blog of mine, someone wrote…“those lazy, crazy, hazy, days of summer…” and attributed those to a song by the late singer, Nat King Cole. I wrote down the words but didn’t get the name of the song or the name of the individual leaving the comment. But about this time every year, the last of July or the beginning of August, the words somehow manage to find themselves back into my memory. Erectilephobia
Erectilephobia is my own term for any man who allows his fear of possibly having an erection in public to prevent him from trying social nudity. The most unfortunate aspect of this situation is that there is an equal possibility that the same man will not have an erection in public and therefore he’s allowing this possibility to prohibit him from the camaraderie and joys of social nudity. Arousals (erections) aren’t available “on demand” so none of us are immune from this happening, but we’re realists and refuse to let that possibility stand in our way of enjoyment.
The Birds & The Bees and…?
In current American usage, the term “the birds and the bees” is a euphemism for sex. Please don’t ask me why, I didn’t invent the language here, so I have no earthly idea. Since birds and bees are unable to mate (procreate) with each other, the mystery only continues to confuse me (and others, I’m sure). After writing all of that, I’m still unclear on the background or history of the expression. However, it does represent the sexual act, especially when parents talk around other non-adults.
Sex On The Beach! Part 2

“Sex On The Beach” may mean a number of different things to an equally number of different people. For me, it recalls summer days relaxing on the beach, completely bare and soaking up the sunny rays while sipping a tropical cocktail. A before dinner mix of sand, surf and sunshine and a drink.
Unofficially Summer!
Today is the first full day of the Memorial Day holiday here in the USA. It is the traditionally considered as the unofficial beginning of the 2018 Summer season. The long-awaited and much anticipated time of sand, sun and surf! The return of those carefree days of expanded sunlight and endless fun. If you’re planning to be outside today, please remember to cover yourself with sunscreen. No one wants to miss a solitary moment of unlimited activities because of a painful sunburn, or worse. Skinny-Dipping Season!
At last, Spring-like temperatures have finally arrived and now our thoughts turn to those amazing trips to the beach. It doesn’t really matter where the beach is located, by the ocean, the sea, the lake or a river. What’s important in our minds is that wherever it is, the sunshine, warm temperatures and the water will be there as will the number of men who are parading their bare bodies as we all rejoice in the ability to skinny-dip (swim naked) outdoors again among our nude brethren!
World Naked Gardening Day
Tomorrow, Saturday, May 5, 2018, is World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD). Observed on the first Saturday in May, annually, this is the day in which everyone is encouraged to do their gardening tasks while completely clothes-free. World Naked Gardening Day was first celebrated in 2005 and this year marks it’s 14th year. The occasion was always on an agreed date and in 2007, it was decided to keep the date on the first Saturday of May. No matter what our gardening needs are, this is as good a time as any to get things in order.
Arbor Day
Today is Arbor Day in the USA. Another commemoration that often brings to mind images of a person hugging tree, similar to Earth Day. It is appropriate that the two dates follow so close together during the Spring season. Arbor Day is essentially a school-based celebration for youth to focus on the importance of trees as both a resource for oxygen and as a natural resource that constantly needs replenishing. Many schools sponsor a tree-planting ceremony on this date.
Earth Day, 2018 Weekend!
By now, almost all of us are familiar with the image of a person hugging a tree representing environmentalists. It is used by many as either a positive identifier or else as a derogatory graphic. As we become better acquainted with the knowledge and effects of global warming, this image also serves as a reminder of the fragile relationship between our environment and humanity. This same picture accurately depicts the primary message of the entire Earth Day movement: This is our world, we all need to work together to protect it.

Finally all my discomfort, profanity and overall foul attitude has achieved some sort of result. This past weekend, the weather and the temperatures here on the East Coast of the USA has changed. We went from almost Winter-like conditions to almost Summer weather all within the span of maybe twenty-four hours. I’m just egocentric enough to take full credit for this change in our meteorological circumstance!
