Unlearn It!

Pride in his nakedness!

Introduction:

Official definition: “In human psychology, the term “learned behaviour” refers to any manner of conduct that a person performs as a result of experience. People learn behaviour from their parents, siblings and other authoritative environmental entities.”

A learned behaviour is a distinct practice that isn’t part of our natural (human) experience or nature. It is by no means universal (shared by everyone). More than likely, it is a behaviour or belief that is taught to us when we are young so that we do not acquire or begin a particular behaviour, habit or practice that is actually more conducive, intuitive or natural to an overwhelming majority of us. A perfect example of a learned behaviour is the wearing of clothes. The lesson taught to us is that bare, naked, nude is wrong and that clothes must be worn at all times!

Clothing is an instrument/tool that is divinely delivered to us in order to remove and/or restrict our body and clothes freedom. A freedom that we are all born with!

Ironically, the exact learned behaviour that we are taught is a complete and total lie (fabrication, falsehood). This untruth (falsehood) is practically always taught to us by the same person/teacher who also instruct us to always be honest and tell the truth. After all, lying is a sin (wrong) that is offensive not only to the divine but to all humans as well. Two lies (fabrications/falsehoods) do not equal to a truth!

So much for the un-natural and very un-truthful lesson that garments are divinely inspired! Quick! Someone should alert the divine!

Bare is wrong!

Body shame:

Body shame is defined/explained as: “the mock or stigmatize (someone) by making critical comments or gestures about the appearance, shape or size of their body.”/We are taught throughout our developmental (growing-up) years to shame ourselves and to especially to be ashamed of our bare (naked, nude) bodies. Additional instructions include that the desire and urge (want) for body and clothes freedom is both despicable, shameful and wrong! Nakedness (absence of garments) is the epitome of disgrace and it is evil.

Nakedness is also inhuman – that’s why prisoners are incarcerated nude or with a minimal covering. It is also un-natural – that’s why aboriginal persons are also classified/labelled as “backwards” or as “uncivilized.” Some are also referenced as “primitive.”

Nakedness is therefore undignified. It is also unrefined. Nakedness is deplorable. It lessens our humanity. It makes us savage. Ironically, the same may be applied to all of those who deliberately and intentionally and with malice direct and with intent inflict body shame on others. Body shaming is the process by which one attempts to address degradation, humiliation and ridicule upon the body of another with emphasis on perceived differences, discrepancies and flaws.

We are taught to conceal or cover (hide) our nakedness if we are ever in the company of others. Communal nakedness is both disgraceful and deviant. It is to be avoided at all times. It is indecent to be seen in our nakedness when around others. Communal nakedness is considered a perversion.

Pointing his finger!

The body shaming of others is a direct result of the insecurities felt by those criticizing of their own personal physical stature. They ridicule and taunt others in a feeble attempt to deflect attention from themselves.

“Who are you to judge the life I live? I’m not perfect and I don’t have to be! Before you start pointing fingers, make certain your hands are clean.” ~ Bob Marley ~ Jamaican reggae legend

Searching!

Refutation:

Yet, we were all born only in our complete, full and total nakedness. No matter our parentage or social class. In nakedness we begin our life and we enter into this world. In the countless numbers of thousands of years, humanity continues to create itself through birth in nakedness.

Multiple millennia of teaching all of our offspring of the artificial concealing and covering of their natural body with textiles (clothing) yet the instructions must still continue even into this day and age. Clothing remains a learned behaviour, that none of us are born with. It does not automatically pass from one generation to the next.

All joining together!

“Openness may not completely disarm prejudice, but it’s a good place to start.” ~ Jason Collins ~ first openly gay NBA professional, Brooklyn Nets

“For all of us, as same gender loving and bare men, we must remember that as members of a distinct minority community and culture, it is incumbent on us to recognize that our pride in ourselves is based on our own self-acceptance and our own self-confidence of both what and who we essentially are. Guilt and shame have no place in our lives. We need to let them go and move forward in patience and tolerance for all. Love nd respect are the keys we need. Hate and ignorance are not.” ~ Roger Peterson-Poladopoulos ~ June 16, 2023

One important thought to hold onto is that not everyone who taught us about nakedness was in harmony with the lesson. Many were merely complying with their perceptions of what was expected from them.

Suggestions For Unlearning:

The actual unlearning of a learned behaviour is easier for some of us than it is for others. One important factor to remember is that we all learn differently and the process of unlearning is equally diverse. There is not one standard formula/prototype that is applicable for all of us. Ponder the recommendations offered below and proceed with what is comfortable for you.

  1. Remove all clothing and relax. Read a book or a magazine. Watch a film or television. Paint a canvass and/or draw/sketch.
  2. Invite one or several friends over and encourage them to become naked with you. Play cards or a board game. Do something bare together. Interact.
  3. Repeat the above or variations thereof in order to increase the nude comfort level of everyone. Undertake similar activities. Invite others to join the experience.
  4. Progress from nakedness (alone) to an atmosphere of social nudity (acquaintances/friends engaging together).
  5. To increase the bare comfort level of all, organize a social event (such as a cocktail party of a meal) where the ones naked can intermingle with those who are wearing clothes. It is advisable to let all the guests know of the social make-up of the gathering in advance. This is done to avoid any awkward or uncomfortable “scenes.”

Purple: Spirit Day!

Purple Spirit Day!

Purple: Spirit Day is officially observed on the third Thursday of October, annually. This posting entry is offered in anticipation of the official observance!

On the Progress Rainbow Pride flag, the colour of purple at the bottom of the original rainbow field of six stripes represents the ideal of spirit. The colour also denotes pride and is considered a calming colour. It also connects us to the spiritual realm. For a great many of us, this is symbolic of our reflective nature and signifies the soul of the GLBTQ+ quest for our equality and freedom. In the United Kingdom and throughout the Commonwealth, purple is a royal colour and often is representative of the Crown.

Purple: Spirit Day is an annual anti-bullying, anti-coercion date that is held during National Bullying Prevention Month. It is particularly focused combatting damaging or threatening behaviour based on a person’s perceived or real same gender loving status. The Stonewall Inn Riots (SIR) of 1969 and the National Coming Out Day observance that commenced on October 11, 1988, reduced the suicide rate among the GLBTQ+ community and culture but it was never completely eradicated as a cause, even with the millennial transition.

A significant increase in GLBTQ+-related suicides committed not only raised the awareness of this problem within our community and culture but also in the minds of the general public. Clearly, more attention and efforts were necessary.

The commemoration of Purple: Spirit Day began on October 20, 2010, at the advocacy and inspiration of one Canadian teenager on her FaceBook social media. It is an awareness day of recent development in response to a USA suicide that gained international attention. On September 22, 2010, eighteen year old student Tyler Clementi, of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA, jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge over the Hudson River. On September 19, Tyler’s roommate, Dharen Ravi, had posted to his Twitter social media account a clip showing Tyler kissing another man and announced to all his followers that he is gay. All of this was done without the permission of Tyler or his encounter partner.

Purple: Spirit Day!

The resulting media explosion that followed the suicide led Brittany McMillan, a secondary school student in Canada to respond to her conscience and launch the Purple: Spirit Day campaign on her own. The concept was undertaken by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) who immediately assumed sponsorship after consulting with Brittany.

Promoted by GLAAD, participants wear the colour purple as a visible sign of awareness and support for GLBTQ+ young people and opposition to bullying (for whatever reason) in general. It is also a gesture in tribute to all GLBTQ+ victims of suicide.

Cartoon in support of GLBTQ+ Purple: Spirit Day!

The very first Purple: Spirit Day was held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Later observances were on Thursday, October 20, 2011, and on Friday, October 20, 2012. After that time, GLAAD enacted the official date of the third Thursday in October as the annual occasion.

For those persons restricted by requirements of uniform, a purple awareness ribbon may be worn to show agreement with the cause. If a pre-printed purple ribbon isn’t immediately available, a plain one suffices. Use a regular safety pin to attach the ribbon to your collar or shirt.

I remember the very first Purple: Spirit Day. Aaron, my spouse and I were simply living together at the time, and there wasn’t much notice given in advance of the first occasion. We decided to make purple ribbons to distribute on our jobsites promoting the cause and spent the night before staying up late to create the awareness tokens. We assorted 150 ribbons for each of our jobs. By mid-morning the next day, we exchanged emails and we had both given out of ribbons!

Supporting Purple: Spirit Day!

For bare practitioners the event may be signified by painting a purple ribbon on the left side of the chest. It is important to promote attention to this worthy cause!

Return to Regularity!

Hairy armpits before he begins!!

Introduction:

Before anyone here today gets the wrong idea, this post entry does not involve or relate to any sort of bowel elimination. I hope that brief and simple explanation prevents any misunderstanding and/or confusion. Now that the official end of the summertime is now past us, today’s topic addresses the resumption by many of their personal exercise activities.

Special notation: Today’s post entry also includes these images of this man confidently exposing his commendable growth of hirsute axilla (hairy armpits)! For those here who are completely unaware, one of my very favourite aspects of male anatomy!

Active in his fitness routine!

Many of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere know the summer season affords us all too many opportunities for athletic indulgence, organized and/or spontaneous free-play and other varieties of active pleasure that are usually unavailable throughout the remainder of the year. The longer periods of actual daylight also provide the impetus for social and physical expression. The result of these factors give to many an “excuse” (reason) to abbreviate and/or abandon their daily exercise/fitness routine.

Confident of his physique development!

Now that regionally, our summer season is now complete, those who decided to take exception to their established fitness routine are now resuming their activity. For those who procrastinated initiating any type of exercise, another summer of not having a body that reflects development and maintenance, has inspired them to implement a practice to insure no repetition of their obvious embarrassment.

Treadmill exercise!

So, those of us who diligently, faithfully and regularly followed our own fitness routine throughout the entire summer season are now challenged with our own adjustment! Just as we became comfortable with a less stressful crowd at our exercise facility, we are now faced with yet another obstacle. The return of the “regulars” plus all those determined to avoid the repeating of their seasonal discomfort of not being completely fit and toned when another summer appears!

Legwork!

The return to the daily routine doesn’t really cause that much inconvenience. After all, most of the returnees are already familiar with the equipment and have their own scheduling. It’s the arrival of those who have to adapt to the establishment regulations, procedures, etc., and to figure out the best possible way to operate the equipment that present us with our greatest dilemma. Unsure of exactly the most beneficial essentials, they frequently question even the most polite regular for the basic guidelines on how to operate each station. Not only does this distract others from performing their procedure, it also often creates problems with the individual pieces of utilization at each station.

Instances too numerous to mention happen when one or more fitness trainers are at one station instructing “newbies” on how to properly work the exercise equipment. The backlog at the particular area sometimes becomes endless!

Routine!

At times, I wonder why do we even bother with the season of summer? The ends don’t always justify the means! Oh well, time to head out to my local gym!

Nude Recreation Week: Recuperation!

Recuperation time!

2023 NUDE RECREATION WEEK

July 10 – 17, 2023

The full week is over for this year!

No way!

That does not mean that we need to get dressed now!

Our clothes freedom is not limited or restricted to just this one week of the entire year! Our nakedness is welcome throughout all the year! Often, Aaron (my spouse) and I have used the final day of Nude Recreation Week as a day to rejuvenate ourselves from the week-long event! A week of fun can sometimes be very tiring!

Floatation recuperation #1!

Which definitely doesn’t eliminate floatation as a legitimate method of recuperation! It is obviously designed as a viable tool for Nude Recreation Week!

Floatation recuperation #2!

It is both refreshing and relaxing and is a very comfortable method of spending our leisure time – especially while skinny-dipping!

Floatation recuperation #3!

All bare practitioners instantly qualify for this method of hanging out the summer afternoons without the stress of finding something appropriate and creative to wear!

I hope everyone had a terrific Nude Recreation Week! Remember: no clothing required!

Nude Recreation Week, Day 2!

Weightlifting!

2023 NUDE RECREATION WEEK

July 10 – 17, 2023

Fitness exercise!

The are no mandatory regulations that require all of us to adhere to an established routine in observing 2023 Nude Recreation Week. I’m just offering suggestions for different ways that we may attempt in order to have a pleasure and varied experience for each and every day. A set routine is often boring and lackluster.

Personal physical development is one option available. Another is personal mental development that can be exercised by playing certain games or engaging in certain puzzles such as crossword or sudoku or word-search. The choice is entirely your own!

Training routines!
Juggling for eye-hand coordination!

An individual or group can be as creative and imaginative as needed to achieve desired results. There is no specific guideline that guarantees success. The goal is to engage and have fun while doing so. After all, it is: Nude Recreation Week!

Nude Recreation Week, Day 1!

Nude Recreation Week!

2023 NUDE RECREATION WEEK

July 10 – 17, 2023

Nude Recreation Week is annually sponsored by the The Naturist Society. This year marks the 45th year of Nude Recreation Week.

Strip and recreate!

Background:

On August 7, 1976, National Nude Beach Day was first observed by the Free the Free (Clothes Free) Beach Committee. This Free the Free Beach Committee was the forerunner of The Naturist Society which was officially established in 1980. Initially it was formed to encourage the formation of clothing optional and clothes free public beaches. The observance soon expanded to include all aspects of recreation, both communal and individual.

Do it!

The first step in complying with the theme of Nude Recreation Week is to remove all clothing. So, in order to prepare to celebrate in style, let’s strip!

Smile!

Happiness = freedom!

Stripping!

Freedom = no clothes!

Stepping out!

No clothes = finally bare!

Time to celebrate!

Finally bare = without a care!

Without a care = liberation!

Nude Recreation Week equals fun for everyone so get busy, get comfortable and enjoy the time without a care in the world and without a thread on your body!

Twister!

Enjoy board games? Twister is a popular game that is amusing and confusing, especially when everyone is naked and looking for adventure! It is very popular with bare practitioners and is the source of many entanglements! One of the major advantages is that it is easy to be viewed by a large audience!

Twister: public exhibition game1

More traditional board games also are favourites of us all. These are not quite as challenging or as imaginative as the twister game but may be enjoyed by all!

Blindfolded games!

Creativity among players is encouraged in order to modify games and make them more appealing! Most board and/or card games are able to be modified to include any numbers of players.

Happiness is bare for Nude Recreation Week!

Have a great Nude Recreation Week, 2023!

International Skinny Dip Day!

Conventional swimmer: clothed!

What is essential for a skinny-dip? Obviously, a body of water: man-made (pool; indoor or outdoor) or natural (lake, ocean or river), it makes no difference. The designation of today, July 8, 2023, as the International Skinny-Dip Day by no means makes this date the only day of the entire year that persons may swim naked. Everyone is allowed to swim swim-suit free any day they desire and anywhere they want – illegally or legally. This communication encourages all of those individuals who’ve never before taken the plunge clothes free to do so today in the company of others who enjoy the activity and the experience – especially those of us who are ardent bare practitioners! Try it, you just might like it!

Bolder and stripped!

Most skinny-dippers (nude swimmers) start off wearing a swim-suit. Once comfortable with that challenge – often with the companionship of those more bold and daring – they feel inclined to strip-off their cumbersome clothing and join in the fun of swimming covered in nothing else besides their own skin and a layer of sunscreen. Body freedom and social nudity make an excellent reason to lose this archaic inhibition and false sense of modesty!

Bare and proud!

We’re all born naked. Why not shed the vestiges of deceit and disguise and swim bare without a care in the world? What is there to suffer? Guilt? Shame? Those puritanical “learned behaviours” are hardly worthy of a second thought. Remember, every single one of us had to be taught how to put on clothes. Enjoy it! We’re skinny-dippers, not fashion models!

Bottoms-up without clothing!

Uncertain of your aquatic ability or skills? Relax and have fun! Keep to your level of comfort and proceed accordingly. There’s always someone around who is a better swimmer or who doesn’t swim at all. Be yourself and forget trying to impress others. We’re all in our own skin and we’re all free of designer labels! Those reality facts alone afford us enough reason to joyously skinny-dip all summer long!

********************

Safety Suggestions:

Sunscreen application!

Sunscreen:

My spouse, Aaron and I have one essential household policy: if it occurs outside in either direct or indirect sunlight. always sunscreen! Apply it regularly and wear it with pride! All over all the time! When we’re out in public, we intentionally cover one another and then rub it in! He does me then I do him – or vice-versa! There is no shame in visually reminding others to do the same! Hopefully, if it appears erotic and bromantic, others will do likewise!

Security notice!

Safety in numbers:

It is always best not to swim alone. The water presents too much of a challenge to risk yourself! Especially in natural water that isn’t completely transparent. None of us are guaranteed of what we may or may not encounter there. The only time swimming alone is allowed is inside a man-made indoor or outdoor pool where visibility is total (however, even that isn’t encouraged).

Celebrate and enjoy!

USA: HIV Testing Day!

Kory Mitchell, HIV testing advocate, bare practitioner and gay porn-star!

With almost forty years into the global HIV/AIDS crisis, we still are having to survive the reality that we remain without a cure or a vaccine for HIV/AIDS. This disparity exists while we face even more unusual and unknown infections that offer similar if not more deadly consequences.

We do have an accurate and inexpensive test to determine if we are HIV infected. This knowledge is important because if affords all of us the time to adjust our routines, adopt practices to enhance our lives, engage in protocols to reduce complications and to effectively manage our lives. Yet almost a third of persons living with HIV remain unaware of their health status.

Their lack of knowledge puts many of us at risk for contracting the virus.

Increase your power!

Once again, it is important for us to remind everyone of today’s significance. Yes, we are all living through these days of coronavirus COVID-19 epidemic. However, we all need to remember that we are also living during the days of HIV/AIDS. Our health is an issue we need to address!

HIV: Basic Facts

HIV is the virus that causes AIDS.

AIDS is the result of an HIV infection.

Only a physician can diagnose AIDS.

AIDS is not transmitted (spread) by casual contact.

Friendship does not spread HIV!

There is currently no cure or vaccine to prevent HIV/AIDS. However, since the early 1980’s, we have made remarkable progress in the treatment of our HIV-infected populations. Despite this, as a nation, the USA continues to decline in the service provided to persons living with HIV.

Racial disparity!

Testing provides us with the knowledge to seek treatment and to take the process that allows us to manage our lives.

Happiness is knowing your HIV status!

Take the test.

Know your HIV status.

Control your life.

Encourage others to do the same.

Risk reduction!
Kory Mitchell: Productive steps!

Openly same gender loving film actor, Kory Mitchell, was among one of the first gay porn stars to test HIV+. Upon learning of his status, he immediately became an advocate for information, knowledge and for testing to all others in his industry and also within the general bisexual and gay communities. He serves as an example for all of us to take the “next step forward!” We salute your commitment, Kory Mitchell! Thank you for all your efforts in HIV prevention education and in testing!

Author’s Note: The next post entry here is scheduled for tomorrow, June 28, 2023, and the proposed topic is: “Pride: SIR!”

Why Pride?

Question?

Frequently, the question is raised in the media as to why we, the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer+ (GLBTQ+) communities and cultures have the need for a pride celebration. This concern is not only presented in the media networks focused primarily on the general populations but also on those geared towards our own featured community and culture. Many feel we have enjoyed all we can of our different lives. Why even bother to continue?

A pose of pride!

Another question often expressed by my spouse, Aaron, and I between ourselves and when in the company of our friends is: of all the communities and cultures present in this country today, why is the question insistently raised concerning our community and culture specifically? If the issue is of the concern of others, why isn’t the same question asked of others? We’re not the only ones to have a month dedicated to celebrating and saluting our own.

Bare happiness and fun!

Fortunately, not everyone is aware of the fact that we here on ReNude Pride endorse not only GLBTQ+ Pride but we also include the bare practitioners within our observance. Thankfully, this aspect remains beyond the realm of appreciation and comprehension for many of those who are critical of our inclusiveness!

Among us bare practitioners, when the question of Why pride? is imposed, very often the response is delivered as Why not? One question deserves more than the reply with another interrogation. However, the inquiry does warrant some investigation.

Teaser!

The endless questioning of the continuance of the necessity of pride by our community and culture supports the existence of prejudice against us all. It may not be as blatant and prevalent as it once was, however, it remains present. As long as this discrimination is evident and felt, yes, pride is needed. Until we communally and culturally receive the same amount of consideration and respect as shown to others, no matter their race, ethnicity, ability, gender, age or heritage, yes, pride is needed! Distrust is a detriment to acceptance and equality.

The determination that a certain action or behaviour is illegal by legislative or parliamentary approval or even a royal proclamation doesn’t immediately erase the behaviour out of existence. It isn’t innate – it is learned – from parents, teachers, clergy, et al. A learned behaviour is the most difficult to eliminate.

Siblings with pride!

A learned behaviour is a prejudice, plain and simple. It is not based on concrete knowledge or scientific fact. It is solely attributed on the often unsupported opinion of others, usually substantiated by myth or rumour. As such, it is virtually impossible to eradicate and generally increases in intensity.

The persistence of prejudice thus acquired ensures the continuation of prejudice. An act of parliament may outlaw the prejudice but it doesn’t eliminate it.

The reality of someone, questioning their emotional and physical feelings, experiencing confusion, turmoil and confrontation with prejudice. This person, alone or in the company of others, justifies the celebration and observation of pride. Everyone deserves the chance to develop and grow in happiness, security and pride!

Pride!

On a global/international scale, some countries and/or societies are developed and progressive and others are conservative, slower and still a few remain isolated and stagnant. Each nation and society pursues the course according beliefs, needs and traditions – of the power structure (politics) or of the population in general. Hence the diversity of cultures, religions, values, etc. As in individual cases, inherited values are the same as learned behaviours. These are likewise the most difficult to alter or to change. For this reason, deviation from the custom or tradition evolves slowly and tediously. Progress, especially to new ideals and philosophies, is very cautious and relaxed.

In my humble opinion, as long as there is – at the very least – one person who benefits from the observance of a pride event, then yes, it remains necessary and valid. I understand those who feel that pride has become too redundant and too repetitive. I only want to encourage them to get involved in planning the next activity and to offer creativity and variety into the format.
