Bottoms-Up! May, 2025!

Weekend cuddle!

The scheduled publishing of this series is adjusted this month due to the USA’s Memorial Day holiday and the commencement of Pride Month, 2025, on Sunday, 1 June. I need a little time to prepare and compose! It is my treat to myself in order to have as many minutes to enjoy my summer holiday from my classroom!

The header posting is a recognition of the reality that not all of our bare practitioner brethren reside in the Nothern Hemisphere where the outside world is conducive to natural nakedness at this time! Our brethren living in the Southern Hemisphere have a season to complete before their air temperatures moderate.

“United” bottoms-up!

“Bottoms-Up!” and buttock-to-buttock couple pose suggestively on a boat at sea in order to encourage body and clothes freedom!

Typical Saturday morning relaxation from a very busy week at work. We can glimpse his “tanline” pattern on his exposed buttocks! He has the entire season ahead to erase this evidence!

An internal pose to offer viewers!

His muscular thighs lead our eyes onto his intended reason to share his freshly revealed anatomical “bottom!”

A bare practitioner trio celebrating the weekend!

The sand, surf and warm sun provide a welcome environment for those of us who are tired of a winter of inclement weather inside four boring walls!

Slumbering Bare!

Dreamland!

The importance of sleep (slumbering) in our daily lives is taught to all of us since we were very little and very young. The holidays are full of family, friends and fun but often without very few moments of sleep. Many of us resort to mentally reviewing our lengthy list of “things-to-do” so that our holiday plans continue to proceed.

This creates an absence of sleep that afflicts many of us, particularly during this crazed, frantic and hectic season of the year. Too many thoughts dealing with too many tasks that still need to be dealt with in a short amount of time!

Lack of sleep causes a loss of direction and absent mindedness. At a time of year when needed most, focus and orientation frequently suffers.

Holiday sleeping!

My spouse, Aaron, has no problem sleeping. His co-workers and professional superiors often refer, in a joking manner, of his unique ability to “sleep-on-the-job!”

Naked hugs!

August Awakening!

Waking up on a “live” pillow!

Personally, it feels as though this summertime has only just begun. Yesterday was the official “first day of summer,” and now here we are, the month of August is already upon us! Where did the month of July disappear? It was in the future, and now it is a memory. I readily admit to being somewhat sluggish at the end of June, but I honestly didn’t foresee taking a nap that would include the entire month of July!

A dreamland pillow!

This season has been enjoyable, exciting and productive – as most summers usually are – without the usual drama that happens when the heat affects the temper levels. Perhaps one of the reasons this season has been relatively “drama-free” is due to having restful and sufficient amounts of sleep. This may be attributed to the fact that living natural pillows, on which to lay our head, are remarkably available and many bare practitioners are taking advantage! A good night’s sleep gives amazing rewards for those who indulge!

Our couples featured above illustrate the modern marvel known as living natural pillows. They’re accommodating, flexible and are accompanied by a sincere desire to please. Of course, reciprocity is expected and that merely involves taking turns providing the headrest! Everything more than that depends on the compatibility of the couple engaged in dreamland!

Beach bedding!

Not everyone has the same sense of privacy that others hold, especially during the freedom that summer provides us. Many take to napping and slumber while in the rays from the sun. Stroll along any beach, waterfront or pool deck and countless persons will be lounging and sleeping while doing so. There’s no law against it so why not enjoy it?

It is also vitally important to ascertain that all of us understand that living natural pillows entail the use of the buttocks of one person as the living natural pillow of another person. I’ll qualify one of the requirements from my personal experience. I’ve never rested my weary head on the buttocks of anyone recently deceased. I’m not sure if I could ever bring myself to relax during an exchange such as involving a close encounter with a dead person. For that reason, “living” is an essential aspect of the human pillow!

Compliance?

An equally essential component of the living natural pillow experience is the agreement, compliance and/or understanding between the involved persons as to what specifically the participation actually includes. For some, the possibility of being a pillow for another person is repugnant. They only want to be the person with their head on someone else’s buttocks! Role-playing isn’t one of their stronger features.

My spouse, Aaron, offers that for some couples, the usual aspects of alternating roles of accommodation are determined to not be applicable. This decision is based on their personal preference and mutual consent. If this is agreeable to them, then they are free to follow whatever is satisfactory.

Comfort and tranquility!

Naked hugs and enjoy your pillow: whatever style you have!

Winter Respite!

Bedroom scene from “Noah’s Arc!”

Sleeping while totally clothes free is often viewed by bare practitioners as the ultimate resting technique. My spouse, Aaron, and I couldn’t agree wholeheartedly more! Lying in bed together, without the restrictive burden of any type of clothing is the perfect way to end a busy and long day!

The last day of autumn classes has already occurred and the semester examinations concluded this past Friday. All of my work for this season has finished, reports and grades submitted and the university holiday luncheon is this Wednesday. My work schedule goes into “holiday mode” once I cross our doorway after lunch is over and the subway delivers me back to Arlington.

Aaron is taking time off from his hospital job starting Monday, December 20. We’re both looking forward to our well-earned winter respite! Hopefully, the bitterly freezing temperatures will stay away a little bit longer! If not, then we have a plan B: bed together!

A respite smile together!

Realistically, Aaron and I lack the luxury of spending endless days in bed. The both of us have commitments and obligations that determine otherwise. We’ll drive the four-hour trip to Roanoke, Virginia, to spend the western Christmas with his family (my in-laws) We also have several bare practitioner holiday socials to attend throughout the period – once we return from Roanoke. Then, we’re hosting a Holy Christmas (eastern) social for our same gender loving family members on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

Suddenly, lounging lazily looks even more appealing! Perhaps we should arrange for a relaxation period from the Winter holidays!

Take care and stay bare!

Bottoms-Up! End of February, 2020

Even though 2020 is a “leap year” with an extra day applied to this month, it still remains the shortest month of the entire year! Believe it or not, the end of the month is almost here and so we arrive and observe yet another Bottoms-Up! The good news, at least here in the Northern Hemisphere, is that this is the very last full month of winter!

A LOVE-ly Weekend!

This is not a very lengthy posting today. This past weekend both my spouse, Aaron, and I celebrated our birthdays. Aaron’s day is April 5 and my own is April 6. This year Aaron had to work on his birthday and fortunately for me, mine was on Saturday and I had no classes to teach. The result was a complete two days, both Saturday and Sunday, with just the two of us together at home!

To Pledge To Being Bare

As we are now into the dawn of a new year, those reading here who have felt a curiosity about nudity but always hesitated about giving it a try, make a promise to yourselves now to experience it in 2019! If you’ve often wondered about being a bare practitioner (naturist or nudist), why just think about it? Give it a try! Better to learn if it’s something that you enjoy now rather than sit back and just think about it. There’s no time like the present!

Halloween Prelude #1: Costumed Nude

For some strange reason, Halloween is an unofficial holiday that promotes varying degrees of  antisocial and awkward behavior among people, especially here in the USA. First, there are those parents who force their offspring to dress in bizarre and often frightening costumes so that they can go out and solicit candy treats from strangers. These unsuspecting youth are taught to intimidate these same strangers with the taunt: “Trick or treat!” Implying that if you don’t give us a treat, we’ll play a trick (prank) on you.

President’s Day Weekend, 2018

Another President’s Day weekend has passed, the last three-day holiday weekend until the Memorial Day holiday in May. This year was no different from the recent one’s here – Aaron (my spouse) and I were invited again to the mansion that is home to a friend of ours who lives in Loudoun County, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. To read last year’s post on this outing, please click here. As we’re in the dregs of winter, our friend uses this three-day weekend as an opportunity to have his same gender loving bare friends over for an aquatic weekend and a brief respite from winter.

Sleeping Together, Bare, When Visiting Family

When guests overnight away from your own home same sex couples often face a dilemma that is unique. This is especially true when staying with family members, particularly parents. Where do you sleep? In separate beds in separate rooms? What about if you live together while you’re at home and being a dutiful child and visiting a childhood home? Does the partner who’s parents own the home ask if you both can sleep in the same bed? Or do you take the “easy” route and stay in a nearby hotel?

This question may sound trivial and silly to some but it can be a relationship-breaker to a same gender couple who are both trying not to offend or alienate the family of one or the “in-laws” of the other. The problem is compounded by the fact that most extended families don’t have experience in this type of situation and many have no one to look to for their advice. The resources that are available for most man/woman couples simply don’t exist for gay couples and their extended families.

Aaron (my husband) and I were fortunate in that we both have supportive parents who made it clear, beforehand, that when (not if, but when) we visited exactly what the sleeping arrangements would be. Aaron and I met in 2010 at a social nudity event. When he went with me to Greece that August to see my parents, we knew in advance that we’d be sleeping apart. As my father explained to us in an email, we’d only recently met and weren’t even living together, so we’d have separate bedrooms while in Greece. Their logic being you do what you want in your own space but once you’re under our roof, our will be done. Period. We agreed.

That same year, for Thanksgiving, we traveled to Roanoke, Virginia, to stay with Aaron’s parents. He’d only “come-out” to his parents after he met me and so this family visit was somewhat tense (understatement). He’d told his folks about meeting mine and about our sleeping accommodations while there and his parents felt the same. As that was settled before we even left Arlington, our stay in Roanoke was relatively stress free.

We didn’t move in together until the Spring, 2012. Once that happened, whenever we went to see my family, we were allowed to sleep together as long as my nieces and nephews weren’t staying with my parents. If they were there, then it was back to sleeping apart. With his family, we weren’t allowed to sleep in the same bed even though they knew that we were living together.

On October 6, 2014, marriage equality came to Virginia. Aaron’s parents immediately began a relentless campaign for our getting married. They even called my parents and enlisted their support for us legalizing our relationship. Unbeknownst to either of them, we’d already agreed to wed in 2015. We both wanted a summer wedding as neither of us appreciate cold weather.

Aaron and I were married on Saturday, August 15, 2015. After that day, when we visit my family in Greece, whether my nieces and nephews are staying with my parents or not, we share the same bed. When we visit Aaron’s parents, we now sleep in the same bed in his old room.

I realize that different circumstances apply to each same gender couple and that each situation is both special and unique depending on the family. Just as no two individuals are alike, neither are their family dynamics. Marriage equality is a recent phenomenon and isn’t universally recognized. Homophobia still exists throughout the world and even in the most progressive of societies. Their are religious beliefs and cultural taboos that some parents and even contemporaries can’t seem to move beyond.

Unfortunately, while although most of our families honestly love us, many don’t really understand us. Without causing a familial crisis, most of my gay friends who are in relationships just keep their comments to themselves and do whatever is needed to maintain harmony on the home front. That is by no means an ideal solution but it is sometimes the only option available to us.

Most of us don’t want to add any extra stress into our already hectic lives. Family drama, specifically over a situation where we have no control, is something we can all live without. There is no benefit to being an unwelcome guest in the household of another. Nothing good will come out of that predicament.

I offered the examples above of how Aaron’s family and mine responded to our sleeping together both before and after our marriage. Other families will offer different levels of acceptance based on moral values, religious beliefs and individual attitudes. There is no right or wrong carved into stone regarding this situation. Each couple and their family will have to decide for themselves what they can and cannot live with.

It goes without saying that sleeping bare is the choice of each couple. When sleeping nude in the home of another, just be mindful of the “enthusiasm” of children when guests are around. While visiting my parents when one of my nephews was there, Aaron and I were awakened before dawn one morning with my five-year old nephew crawling into bed with us and taking off his pyjamas. Since we were asleep clothes-free, he wanted the same. While there is nothing wrong with our nudity, we should remain sensitive to the tendency of children to emulate their elders and to the wishes of their parents.

And children aren’t the only ones to be concerned about. Sometimes, the adult homeowners are just as lax in respecting privacy. If your family isn’t aware of the visiting couple’s naturist/nudist habits, re-thinking those sleeping habits might be advisable.
