There has to be a better method to gather together a very diverse and sometimes dysfunctional community of academics to socially interact with one another. The president of my university this year sent out a very disturbing and somewhat insulting memorandum to all staff entitled: “Mandatory Holiday Luncheon.” In it, this generally respected and revered leader bemoaned the fact that the annual presidential holiday luncheon, held every December, has suffered from declining attendance and disinterest. Therefore, this year’s gathering, held earlier this week, was mandatory.

Autumn Leaves: Bare Model
For those readers here who’ve followed ReNude Pride for awhile, you already know that as an undergraduate student at university, I posed bare (naked, nude, without clothing) to earn some extra spending money. The job was for the art classes and photography classes at my university. The pay was good and the work wasn’t too demanding or difficult – all I had to do essentially was take off my clothes – which was fine for me. I had no issues being bare – and the same is true today!
Tampons?
If the dude above looks even vaguely familiar, it’s because he’s Daveed Diggs, Broadway Tony-award-winning star of Hamilton, guests appearances on TV’s Law & Order SVU and a couple of season’s on black-ish and also of this year’s film, Blindspotting. So if he does indeed seem familiar to you, it’s because he is. By the way, I did neglect to mention that he won a Grammy award for the soundtrack (if theatrical plays have one) for Hamilton. I need to mention here that this post isn’t about Daveed Daniele Diggs.
New Class This Year!
The new academic year began for me almost weeks ago. A new journey with new faces and new students to enlighten and to inspire (hopefully). It is also exciting for me, personally and professionally, as I am one of a team of three professors collaborating on a new class being offered this semester. As this upcoming November 11, 2018, marks the centenary of the signing of the armistice that ended the Great War of 1914-1918 (World War I), this particular class offers a retrospective on that event, the “war to end all wars.”
USA: Labor Day Holiday
This day, Monday, September 3, is a public holiday in the USA honoring all laborers, no matter what their profession, and the jobs that they perform. The above image is of a landscaper performing his task. Sadly, it is also the final public holiday of the summer season. In just three weeks, the Northern Hemisphere will transition from summer into autumn and the Southern Hemisphere embarks on the arrival of their springtime.
Dive Into August!
It’s now or never, folks! Let’s get ready because before we all know it, there’s a very massive change approaching and time is running out. The clock is already ticking and the next we know, it will be the beginning of Autumn, 2018! There, I wrote the unspeakable! Today begins the first day of the final full month of Summer, 2018. Next month, the seasons will change and this one will be over. History. Past. For a summer-freak as myself, the days of doom and gloom are upon us all.
Reflections: End of June, 2018
We are now facing the end of June, 2018 – and the end of another wonderful month of GLBTQ Nude Pride. Reflection means many things to almost every person, it even has multiple definitions for every one of us. The image above depicts three different men holding a mirror. However, upon close inspection, only one image is reflected on the mirror itself. Yet that image isn’t one of the men above. So the question then becomes: Who’s image is it? And that answer we may never know.
Reflections: End of May, 2018
Sometimes, even just thinking about how it feels to be bare is almost as good as actually being clothes-free. I’m referring to those times in our lives when being nude just simply isn’t a viable option – such as work. Even though I am open about being a naturist/nudist (bare practitioner) with most of my co-workers, I still don’t have the option of coming onto campus in just my birthday suit (skin). My university and the District of Columbia don’t extend to me that freedom.
Classroom Time!
Last week, as an afterthought, I was sent to the my state’s conference on HIV/AIDS which is held annually throughout the state. It has been a number of years since I’ve attended one and I was anxious to see what, if any, personnel changes had occurred since the last time I was present at one. The convocation was sponsored by the state-wide health department and featured a number of guest presenters from across the southeastern region of the USA.
Friday Footnote: Summer’s Over
It’s Friday, September 22, 2017. Yesterday was the last full day of the summer season here in the Northern Hemisphere. Those living in the Southern Hemisphere are now welcoming the arrival of their Springtime and heralding in their season of sand, sun and surf. I offer these words of advice to all of you: ” Peace! Get naked. Enjoy!” Have a safe and wonderful time and, if at all possible, bottle up some sunshine and send it our way! Please!
