By the time my identical twin brother, Alex, and I reached 14 years old, we both knew for certain of our same gender love. My fascination with male body hair in general and underarm hair in particular was not shared by Alex. He accepted armpit and pubic hair, he was and still is very fond of a very clean and smooth appearances elsewhere.
Notation: In answer to that question lingering in the back of your mind: Yes! Alex and his partner are both bare practitioners! our oldest brother is gay and does, upon occasion, accompany us to a social nudity function. He also readily admits to noticing a man’s hairy underarms, whenever available.

I can’t remember giving any special attention to armpits when I was younger. Once puberty began, and my own underarms started to produce a furry growth, that became the catalyst that “opened the door” to my personal addiction, appreciation and attraction to hirsute axilla – the pet name among same gender loving men (bisexual or gay). This also created my interest in basketball that continues today. I currently play on a gay men’s team in an adult league (recreational).

A brief return to the subject of pheromones covered briefly in the Background section above. I’ve often wondered, I know that humans masturbate in order to relieve sexual tension and to provide self-stimulation. The question then follows: when we inhale the aroma of our own body’s pheromones, does that enable a similar self-gratification experience and urge? Is this “scent of desire” that our underarms create affect only our potential partners? Are we immune to our own scent?

Maschalagnia apparently is gaining in popularity based on a trend reported in the gay adult film industry. This may partially be caused by the increase in the number of Caucasian gay men who are shaving or otherwise removing their own armpit and pubic hairs. I’m an educator, not a marketing analyst. I have no knowledge or understanding as to how these two factors determine the conclusion.

The late gay adult film actor, Colin Black, (pictured above) was a very prominent advocate for “hairy armpits rights” inside the gay adult film industry. Prior to his suicide on April 22, 2016, Colin publicly triumphed the cause of all adult film actors, same gender loving and opposite gender loving men, the grow and/or to groom their underarm fur according to their own personal preferences. His arguments were based on individual choice for freedom and happiness as opposed to contract clauses, mandated by industry executives that required contractors to remove/shave all armpit and chest hair and groom pubic hair. He advocated the same argument in support of nudity in private. In 2012, he received the Hookie Award (gay pornography honour) for Best Boyfriend Fantasy. Before I read a death notice for Colin Black, I had never known that a “hairy armpits rights activist” ever existed. Colin, of mixed racial heritage (African-American, Native-American and Korean) was known for his concern for the civil rights of all. He publicly defended the “natural rights” causes of armpit and pubic hairs and of the rights to nakedness!
When once questioned why he strongly worked in favour of pubic and armpit body hair, he said, “because those are the only two places on my body where it grows. I’m smooth everywhere else!”

Obviously, bare practitioner actor Daymin Voss (pictured immediately above) doesn’t have the problem of the lack of his armpit and body hair! His profusion is well appreciated and known to appeal to many!

Practically everyone who reads here regularly is aware of my professional status as an educator. My university operates on a two-semester per year schedule (Spring and Autumn) with a compacted Summer semester tossed in just to confuse everyone, especially the university administration.
I opt for the Spring/Autumn system which allows me (usually) my summers to canter about as clothes free as legally possible. Who is that idiot that claims there is no paradise here on earth? Work on this equation: summer + nudity = paradise! A bare practitioner’s “dream-come-true!”
One rainy day this past Summer, 2022, I went into the attic of our condominium to organize what little we pack away up there. I discovered a plastic storage box filled with DVD collections of television series, films, etc.! I had forgotten all about them!
My spouse, Aaron, and I are not vegetables who lounge in front of a TV screen whenever possible. Frankly, at this precise moment, I have absolutely no idea where the television remote control is even kept – an I live here!
Translation: I should probably reconsider this post entry before I publish!
Noah’s Arc!
Some of the treasures contained within this portable archive were Noah’s Arc (both complete seasons plus two movie productions), Law & Order (entire original series), Oz (all episodes), ER (the entire series), Six Feet Under (entire series, two DVD packages which had never been opened), and an assortment of cinema films – some opened, mostly sealed – plus some gay pornography DVDs that were initially either Aaron’s or my own.
After conducting my spontaneous inventory of the contents, I relocated the box to the very back of our coat closet downstairs, where I rediscovered it again during the winter holiday.
Six Feet Under and The Wire were two of my favourite series although there are unopened discs from both collections. Both featured a mixed-race gay couple in their casts that always captured my attention. Now, if I could just find that damn portable remote control!
It’s a three-day holiday weekend here. Both Aaron and I could relax, lay back and review some of the “classics” from the past!

This is an announcement honouring the celebration of “good news” from our government legislators!
The U. S. House of Representatives, the lower chamber of the Congress, just passed the Marriage Equality Act. The U. S. Senate (the legislative upper chamber) approved the same measure several weeks earlier. It now is awaiting the signature of President Joseph Biden and then it officially becomes law. This legislation enacts the federal mandate that assures the complete recognition of all interracial marriages and all individual marriage equality unions throughout this country.
My spouse, Aaron, and I are an interracial couple. He’s African-Canadian and I’m Greek. We also are a same gender loving male couple. We were legally married in the Commonwealth of Virginia on August 15, 2015. Our marriage is now totally legal everywhere within this country!
Because of the U. S. Supreme Court’s reversal of its previous legalization of abortions this past June, this action by the Congress prevents an automatic reversal of the marriages of all same gender loving couples and of the marriages of all racially mixed marriages. Multiple Christian extremists organizations have threatened to implement judicial review of marriages, hoping for a “return” for supremacy of the conservative religious concept.

The headline photograph is the current Progress version of the GLBTQ+ pride flag that represents our community and our culture. Despite our novelty among the numerous movements in the civil rights world, we do have a history of different banners and what they symbolize waving above us. This “first Friday” of the 2022 GLBTQ+ History Month will examine and share images of these and briefly offer a story of the respective flag.
The Pink Triangle Flag:
The Pink Triangle flag!
The downward-pointing pink triangle was used by Nazi Germany as a badge of shame. It was sewn onto the shirts of homosexual (gay) men in concentration camps to identify and dehumanize them.
Homosexuality was made illegal in Germany in 1871, but it was rarely enforced. When the Nazi Party assumed control in 1933, it was made a priority in order to culturally and racially “purify” Germany. The Nazis arrested tens of thousands of GLBTQ+ individuals, the majority whom were homosexual men, whom they viewed as degenerate.
The early 1970s was when the gay rights movement began to emerge worldwide (after the 1969 Stonewall Inn riots) and various organizations reclaimed the pink triangle as an empowering symbol. It also serves as a reminder to remember the past – and to recognize the persecution GLBTQ+ people continue to suffer around the world.
The Lambda Flag:
Greek letter Lambda flag!
The Greek letter, lambda, was first chosen as a gay symbol when, in 1970, for the first anniversary of the Stonewall Inn Riots (SIR), it was adopted by New York City’s local chapter of Gay Activist Alliance as the emblem of their growing movement of gay liberation. Some identified the Greek letter with the representation of the word “liberation.”
In 1974, lambda was subsequently adopted by the International Gay Rights Congress meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, as their official symbol designating gay, bisexual and lesbian civil rights. Following this selection, lambda became internationally popular and recognized as representing the growing movement for civil rights for all people, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation.
Lambda was first designated in December, 1969, as representative of the new gay liberation movement by the graphic artist and one of the Gay Activist Alliance’s founding members, Tom Doerr. Doerr chose the letter because in chemistry it was a sign for catalyst. Others argue that lambda denoted the synergy of the growing gay movement: the idea of the whole being greater than the sum of all its parts.
Some view the lambda as being synonymous with males exclusively.
The Rainbow Flag:
The Rainbow flag!
First publicly raised on June 25, 1978, in San Francisco, California, USA, the flag flew over the United Nations Plaza in honour of then-gay pride at the 1978 San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade. The original flag consisted of eight coloured stripes and was designed by Gilbert Baker and hand-stitched and dyed with the help of friends and volunteers Lynn Segerblom, James McNamara, Glenne McElhinney, Joe Duran, and Paul Langlotz.
The eight-stripe original rainbow flag was soon revised to six stripes with pink (symbolizing “sex”) and turquoise (symbolizing “art and magic”) eliminated as the colours and dyes were unavailable in flag fabric. Baker conceived the flag would empower his “tribe” and a “rainbow of humanity” motif would represent the movement’s diversity.

The Progress Pride Flag:
The Progress Pride flag!
The Progress Pride flag was developed by non-binary artist and designer Daniel Quasar in 2018. Based on Gilbert Baker’s 1978 Rainbow flag, Quasar’s redesign celebrates the diversity of the GLBTQ+ community and culture worldwide and encourages a more inclusive general society. The redesigned banner has increased the representation of discriminated minority identities covered by the GLBTQ+ umbrella.
Quasar’s creation placed black and brown stripes (emblems representing peoples of colour) and light blue, pink and white stripes (representing transgender, non-binary and intersex persons) in the shape of an arrow on the left of the Progress Pride flag. In Daniel Quasar’s words “…the arrow points to the right to show forward movement and illustrates that progress towards inclusivity still needs to be made.”
The black stripe has a double meaning as it is also intended for “those living with HIV/AIDS and the stigma and prejudice surrounding them and those who have died from the disease.”

The Progress Pride flag has been immediately an international success. On the evening of June 6, 2018, Quasar posted the design on social media and woke up the next morning to find that it had gone viral. It has been enthusiastically received by the GLBTQ+ community and culture all around the globe!

The latest updates…!
In my posting earlier this month, September: New Beginnings, (click title to view) I presumed that everyone understood the correlation between January 1, and September 1. A “new beginning” isn’t really happening just because it is the start of another month and another calendar season. However, as early as we are into the current month, “new” has already enveloped us. The most obvious being the ascension of Charles III as the Head of Commonwealth on the death of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Another event happened to me, personally, just this past week! A most welcome occurrence!

Returning to my classroom after the Labor Day holiday (Monday, September 5), I was totally surprised and thrilled to receive a response from one of my oldest (acquaintance wise) blogging buddies with the accurate and current address of his blog! This lifted my spirits after the day off and made me excited about this long overdue reunion!

Get-Away goodbye!
In the Northern Hemisphere, this approaching weekend is the final official one of the Summer of 2022. The season of fun, surf and sun will – within a few short days – disappear as autumn brings a chill into our lives.
Aaron and I are on the roadways away beginning today (early in the morning). This is our bidding farewell to the season and to the comfortable temperatures outside. We have no definitive destination for our weekend jaunt although an ocean and waves are always appealing!
This is our tribute to the summer of 2022 – our method of saying “thank you” and good-bye” as the season draws to a close. It was both fun and remarkable, a combination that unfortunately doesn’t happen to often recently.

Before commencing today’s post entry, I’ll let you know that Mom is good! No problems with diet, health, etc.! I arrived here this past Saturday and will spend two weeks before returning home in time for the new academic university schedule gets underway. It will be Mom and I for this week; Aaron flies here one week from today and will be here with us for the remainder of the time.
No pressing family business or concerns, just time to relax and “be ourselves” with Mom before another frantic and often hectic work related calender becomes the daily routine. It has been almost four whole years since Papa died and I know she’s lonely without him. This time is merely a gesture to offer relief to all my brothers and their families from being with her.
Last year, Twin (my identical, Alex) and I spent most of the month of August together with our Mom. This time, we’re taking a two-week period each so that she gets the attention and love that she deserves and has earned. We’ll have a three-day overlap in our times on Skyros.
As of this moment, Mom has no prominent desires that have to be met. In her own way, she enjoys the time alone with her sons and their partners/spouses. However, knowing Mom as I do, I’m certain within a day she will have several “projects” that she will feel the need to have accomplished! So much for the “relaxation” aspect of the two-week trip home!

Whether we live in the Northern Hemisphere or in the Southern Hemisphere, it makes no difference.
