For all of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere, this month marks the final full month of the summer. For those who happen to reside in the Southern Hemisphere, the exact opposite is the case as their winter is almost at the end. All around our world, a change is everywhere “in the air.” One geographic area prepares to bid farewell to summer as the other prepares to welcome the arrival of spring!

Summer Skinny-Dipping Bromance!
First, a very gentle reminder of the meanings of a few of the terms used in the title. “Summer” refers to a season of the year and shouldn’t need any additional explanation. “Skinny-dipping” is nothing more than swimming without a swimsuit or completely bare. “Bromance” is used as a colloquial combination for “love” (bro = brother = male; romance = love). The purpose of this posting entry is to offer insight on same gender love between two men.
A Flight Home!
Many people of Greek birth or descent return to visit the homeland during the month of August. This tradition has been in existence since before my parents immigrated here in the late 1940’s. I’m not certain of the origins of this custom, I’m simply aware of it from the practice as well as my own personal experience. Also, what right do I have to question anyone’s desire for a good time and a decent party?
Fourth Anniversary!
Four years ago today, August 15, Aaron and I became a household. We got married (“tied-the-knot,” “jumped the broom,” etc)! We became husband and husband in the eyes of the law, our families, God, our friends, our pet Siberian Husky, the Wizard of Oz, and other deities and demons too numerous to mention. We became the very first same-sex couple in both of our respective families. Most importantly, we’re still together – laughing, loving and, at times, struggling, But – we’re – still – together! And very happy!
Friday Footnote: End of Week
After I titled this posting, I realized that this particular week isn’t, by any means, the only week of the entire year that begins to end on a Friday! Every week has that same coincidence! This week does mark the final Friday for this month of July, 2019. I suppose that aspect would have made a more significant statement but it would also provide a much lengthier title for what is intended to be a brief post here.
Happy Canada Day!
Today, July 1, is Canada Day, celebrating the creating of the Dominion of Canada on this date in 1867. This event was the enactment of the British North America Act which unified the colonies of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec into the autonomous dominion under Queen Victoria as Queen of Canada. Today is Canada’s national holiday and warmest regards to Canadians everywhere!
Bottoms-Up! End of June, 2019!
This is the last day of Pride Month for all of us same gender loving bare practitioners so to fully acknowledge the auspicious occasion, strip down to our bare skin and offer our buttocks to all! Let’s show our pride in who we truly are and proudly display ourselves! There is no time like the present for us to celebrate out in the open as confident same gender loving bare practitioners!
Pride And The Week That Was!
Tomorrow is Saturday and it is the day that my spouse’s (Aaron’s) cousin, Michael leaves us to return home to Canada. He hopes to be on the highway around 8:00 in the morning. He’s in no big hurry to return to his parent’s home for the remainder of this summer – he just wants to try his best to get away from the Washington, D.C., traffic before everyone else is travelling. I honestly appreciate his desire!
When There’s A Surprise!
A surprise, especially a happy and pleasant one, is always welcome! It has a unique way of brightening-up one’s day and enlivening one’s life. It makes the time all the more valuable as it adds a sense of both joy and purpose. Surprises are generally completely unexpected and usually happen without much notice or preparation. The surprise can be beneficial in many different ways – some immediate and some when the unexpected slowly erodes into the past.
USA: Mother’s Day Weekend
Here in the USA, this upcoming Sunday, May 12, 2019, is Mother’s Day. That observance is the time where everyone honors their mothers and the concept of motherhood in a special way. One of the traditional duties of being a mother usually involves preparing the family meal and this has led to one of the favored customs of this day: either preparing a feast for our mother or taking her “out to eat” a meal on her special day.
