Holy Easter

The above image is the picture of a loaf of Easter Bread, one of the traditional foods of the Easter celebration within the Greek Orthodox Church. This weekend marks the end of the Great Lenten Fast that is observed prior to the Feast Day. All of the faiths of the Orthodox churches have Easter this weekend; the Russian, the Greek, the Ethiopian, the Bulgarian, the Serbian, the Albanian, the Egyptian Coptic and as well as some of the Eastern Rites of the Church of Rome.

Greek Independence Day!

March 25, annually, is Greek Independence Day. This celebration marks the date, in 1821, when the people who live in what is now Greece, rose up in revolt against Ottoman Turkey who occupied their homeland for hundreds of years. A protracted war ensued that culminated in the eventual establishment of the modern state of Greece. This post signifies both the religious feast day and the national holiday.

A Presidential Skinny-Dip!

For the past several years, I’ve always posted here on USA President’s Day holiday of the weekend activities that Aaron, my spouse, and I attended with other same gender loving bare couples in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. This year, we decided not to go. I just wasn’t feeling very “presidential” even though it has now been three months since my father died. Our host understood and asked that we reserve now for next year and we agreed.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

To commemorate St. Valentine’s Day together, take a photographic “selfie” (self picture) of you and your significant other, boyfriend, or spouse. This tiny gesture not only says “I love you” more than words can ever convey but it also serves as a visual reminder of where you are and who you’re with on Valentine’s Day, 2019. Caution: you may not want to save a bare image of you and your man on your phone, especially if you allow others to use it!

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

My Father and the Reverend Dr. King

When my brothers and I were growing up, and my parents were still living in this country, I remember my father consistently and constantly sharing with all of us his recollections of the day that he “marched with Dr. King.” My siblings and I would roll our eyes as we had to endure his endless recounting of his participation at the national March for Jobs and Freedom on the National Mall. Even before we understood what exactly transpired that day, we all matured knowing that our father was there.

For those reading here, I’ve written several posts on the circumstances surrounding our first meeting and its aftermath that were posted here last year. In case you missed those posts, I’m offering those links below.

Bottom’s Up! End of December, 2018

As difficult as it is to believe, we’re now at the end of yet another calendar year and the end of December, 2018. That means it’s time to post a Bottom’s-Up! tribute not only for December but for all of 2018, as well. The man in the image above demonstrates what many of us are feeling this time of the year. Serious fatigue of the past year and the need for a serious rest to face the adventures and challenges as we embark into a new one. This unfortunate soul is unable to muster the energy to finish crossing the stream without taking a brief nap!

Before The Year Ends…

Before the Winter Holiday season ends and the New Year’s Eve festivities begin, it is important for each and every one of us to make plans to safely usher in 2019.
