Maschalagnia!

Felipe Ferreira, gay model posing with his underarm fur!

Background:

Axilla (armpit or underarm) is the area of the human body directly under the joint where the arm connects to the shoulder. It also contains numerous sweat glands.

In humans, the formation of body odor happens primarily in the armpit. These odorant substances serve as pheromones, which play an important role relating to desire and to mating.

Hirsute axilla = hairy armpits, underarm fur.

Maschalagnia: A person who is physically and sexually attracted to armpit hair. Also known as hairy armpit obsession. Activities enjoyed with this fetish include licking and/or sniffing the underarms, kissing and/or sucking the fur and ejaculating on the partner’s armpits and/or chest area.

Kory Mitchell: raised arm to share his armpit hair!

Introduction:

The above photograph depicts one of many, all-time favourite gay porn actors, Kory Mitchell. He earned my admiration early on when he publicly acknowledged – long before it became accepted – his personal attraction to men’s hairy armpits! Even while in my early adolescence, I felt instant affiliation and identification with him and no longer felt so alien! His honesty, discovered while secretly reading one of my oldest brother’s gay pornographic magazines, bestowed this early distinction upon Mr. Mitchell!

In his interview, Kory didn’t mention the descriptive term maschalagnia. He just referred to his attraction to another man’s hairy armpits!

Photo-Essay: Maschalagnia:

Kory Mitchell: half-face and armpit hair!

The above reasoning is how Kory Mitchell, a fellow maschalagnia, has the distinct honour of being featured here twice!

I think the name of my oldest brother’s hidden gay magazine was Inches. The article on Kory Mitchell contained endless photos of his penis, which was both enlarged and pierced. I don’t recollect any pictures – in that article – of his underarm fur.

All that I clearly remember about that presentation are the couple of sentences when Kory admitted to being sexually enthralled with men’s hairy armpits – surrounded by pictures of his own pierced erection! This was the first time I ever saw pictures of a pierced penis and learned of a famous porn-star in love with hirsute axilla!

Gio Dell, gay model, escort, model, actor and hirsute axilla!

Gio Dell, Venezuelan-born and gay, is a model, escort and actor. His head is balding and his body hair is profuse! He proudly flashes his underarm fur whenever possible!

By the time my identical twin brother, Alex, and I reached 14 years old, we both knew for certain of our same gender love. My fascination with male body hair in general and underarm hair in particular was not shared by Alex. He accepted armpit and pubic hair, he was and still is very fond of a very clean and smooth appearances elsewhere.

Notation: In answer to that question lingering in the back of your mind: Yes! Alex and his partner are both bare practitioners! our oldest brother is gay and does, upon occasion, accompany us to a social nudity function. He also readily admits to noticing a man’s hairy underarms, whenever available.

Gay model, escort and sometimes porn actor, Gio Dell, pictured above, is public about his sexuality and his comfort with his preference for his nakedness. He owns no confirmation of maschalagnia even though he acknowledges being the attraction of many bisexual and gay men because of their obsession with his very hairy body, especially his armpits!

I can’t remember giving any special attention to armpits when I was younger. Once puberty began, and my own underarms started to produce a furry growth, that became the catalyst that “opened the door” to my personal addiction, appreciation and attraction to hirsute axilla – the pet name among same gender loving men (bisexual or gay). This also created my interest in basketball that continues today. I currently play on a gay men’s team in an adult league (recreational).

Jason Collins, openly gay and the first openly gay man to play in the NBA. He played on the Brooklyn Nets!

I enjoy actually playing the sport of basketball even though I was never skilled or talented enough to be qualified as an athlete for the official school team. My problem? I was always too distracted by all the player’s underarm fur! I couldn’t concentrate on the game itself! Maschalagnia madness!

Twin – that’s how we address and refer to one another – recalls that my maschalagnia “affliction” seems to have happened overnight: “One night you went to bed, naked and normal. The next morning, you woke up dancing around the room, excited because you were growing pubic and underarm hair! You only calmed yourself when you noticed that the same was happening to me!”

My personal favorite maschalagnia logo!

I am able to still remember the first time I was in a position to fondle and kiss the hairy underarms of a peer. A day that I thought would never arrive! I was solely focused on his armpit fur whereas my peer partner concentrated only on my pubic hair and what else is available down there! That was the first Valentine’s Day I ever spent bare and in bed with another male who was not family!

It’s funny and ironic how Valentine’s Day can ignite a memory from more than two decades ago! A pleasant thought but a weird circumstance!

A subtle sniff!

A brief return to the subject of pheromones covered briefly in the Background section above. I’ve often wondered, I know that humans masturbate in order to relieve sexual tension and to provide self-stimulation. The question then follows: when we inhale the aroma of our own body’s pheromones, does that enable a similar self-gratification experience and urge? Is this “scent of desire” that our underarms create affect only our potential partners? Are we immune to our own scent?

Pheromones enhance the joys of sexual intimacy and are acknowledged to increase the level of passion experienced during foreplay and the actual physical encounter.

Fellow maschalagnia, gay actor and director, Sean Xavier!

Sean Xavier (pictured immediately above) was the second openly gay porn-star – following Kory Mitchell, to my knowledge, to publicly admit to his attraction to and his preference to maschalagnia (in his interview, he actually used the term and explained what it meant to the reporter). It was his interview that introduced me to the term itself. Prior to Sean’s educating me, I’d always simply shared that I had a “fetish” for men’s underarm fur!

Sean confesses to shaving his body hair when he was younger and first entered the business. At the time, he didn’t know any better and did whatever anyone told him to do. Now, he states, that he’s experienced, mature, wiser and proud of himself and all of my body hair!

Maschalagnia apparently is gaining in popularity based on a trend reported in the gay adult film industry. This may partially be caused by the increase in the number of Caucasian gay men who are shaving or otherwise removing their own armpit and pubic hairs. I’m an educator, not a marketing analyst. I have no knowledge or understanding as to how these two factors determine the conclusion.

Colin Black, hairy armpit advocate!

The late gay adult film actor, Colin Black, (pictured above) was a very prominent advocate for “hairy armpits rights” inside the gay adult film industry. Prior to his suicide on April 22, 2016, Colin publicly triumphed the cause of all adult film actors, same gender loving and opposite gender loving men, the grow and/or to groom their underarm fur according to their own personal preferences. His arguments were based on individual choice for freedom and happiness as opposed to contract clauses, mandated by industry executives that required contractors to remove/shave all armpit and chest hair and groom pubic hair. He advocated the same argument in support of nudity in private. In 2012, he received the Hookie Award (gay pornography honour) for Best Boyfriend Fantasy. Colin Black: an early bare practitioner hero!

“Nudity quickly becomes unremarkable when generally practiced.” ~ Colin Black ~

Before I read a death notice for Colin Black, I had never known that a “hairy armpits rights activist” ever existed. Colin, of mixed racial heritage (African-American, Native-American and Korean) was known for his concern for the civil rights of all. He publicly defended the “natural rights” causes of armpit and pubic hairs and of the rights to nakedness!

When once questioned why he strongly worked in favour of pubic and armpit body hair, he said, “because those are the only two places on my body where it grows. I’m smooth everywhere else!”

Daymin Voss, very hirsute body and underarm fur proud!

Obviously, bare practitioner actor Daymin Voss (pictured immediately above) doesn’t have the problem of the lack of his armpit and body hair! His profusion is well appreciated and known to appeal to many!

As long as men continue to grow their armpit hairs; I’m personally content, happy and a proud maschalagnia devotee and enthusiast!

Naked hugs!

S’Naked!

A totally s’naked adventure!

Snow + naked = s’naked!

This was precisely how an online acquaintance defined the above term to me. At the time, it was simple, uncomplicated and personally: very intimidating! The year was 2008; I remember this because up until then, I had never acknowledged that I had no experience being outside and absent of any clothing during or immediately after a snowfall. As an erstwhile advocate of body and clothes freedom, I was downright too ashamed to admit my innocence in this matter.

Even though I publicly “owned” my snow virginity in 2008, when I met and fell in love with my spouse, Aaron, in 2010, my virginity remained intact. The reasoning? Genetics.

My identical twin brother, Alex, and I both abhor cold weather and/or being cold. We’re both “heat and humidity” men. Centigrade or Fahrenheit, it makes no difference. The higher the temperature, the greater our comfort and relaxation. Therefore, it must be in our genes. We have three older brother and three younger brothers. Temperature preference? We are all eight of us the same!

Yours truly, s’naked, photo by Aaron!

Thus, Aaron “plucked” my snow virginity! He rolled it into a snowball and threw it against my bare buttocks, not once but twice! One right after the other! In all honesty, I was shocked! My innocent nude buttocks having intimate contact with snow – all without warning!

Does that make me a s’whore? Snow + whore = s’whore. Do I qualify for spousal abuse?

In the years following Aaron’s “plucking” of my snow virginity, I have engaged in being s’naked many times. I readily admit to be recognized for my exclusive label as being a s’nudist (snow + nudist = s’nudist). Despite my s’naked status, I do wear boots in the snow. I may be a fool for being s’naked, but I am no idiot! In addition, I shave my head hairs daily. Therefore, I wear a knit head sock to help retain my body heat.

Experience and familiarity have served to increase my s’tolerance (snow + tolerance = s’tolerance). Granted the boots and head sock have aided in this condition! My s’endurance (snow + endurance = s’endurance) – the length of time I can spend s’naked without having to run inside to warm myself is now a total of 25 minutes!

A little bit of snow humour. Often, we also refer to s’naked quite simply as “skinny-dipping in the snow!” They both involve stripping off clothes and baring naturally!

Not too bad for an assaulted and former snow virgin!

Naked hugs!

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day!

Today is THE day!

African-Americans constitute almost 13% of the population in the USA yet they represent almost 50% of all categories in HIV/AIDS related statistics reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In 1999, alarmed over the effects of HIV/AIDS on the Black American community, the CDC, U.S. Public Health Service, representatives of organizations serving African-Americans and persons of faith met to address concerns over rising infection rates. One of the results of these meetings was the decision to observe February 7, annually, as National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD). The first NBHAAD was conducted on February 7, 2000.

Working together to preserve our future!

NBHAAD mandates four (4) key components present for a successful awareness campaign. Each component is designed to build individual and community strengths in combatting HIV/AIDS. The four elements are as follows:

Get educated: know the facts about transmission and prevention of HIV/AIDS.

Get involved: learn about opportunities available in community prevention efforts.

Get tested: know your status and encourage/empower others to do the same.

Get treatment: to receive proper healthcare and support needed to successfully live with HIV.

KNOWLEDGE = POWER!

Get tested in order to know your status.

Get active! `~ Get involved! ~ Take control!

Testing!

Basic Facts: HIV/AIDS:

HIV is the virus that causes AIDS.

AIDS is a result of HIV infection.

HIV is not spread by everyday, casual contact. HIV is transmitted through blood, semen, vaginal fluid and breast milk.

Only a doctor can diagnose AIDS.

Remember: It is not who we are but rather what we do that puts us at risk for HIV infection!

Analysis proves that people learn and retain knowledge most effectively from people they perceive as most like themselves. NBHAAD is an African-American based organization to provide direction, guidance and implementation to the Black American population specifically. It represents a resource that is accessible, authentic and dependable.

Kory Mitchell: The “Magic Johnson” of the Gay Porn Industry!

Legendary openly gay film star, Kory Mitchell, (sometimes known as “Kory Kong”) born in Germany of African-American and German parents, became an HIV+ gay porn industry advocate and educator of HIV/AIDS prevention skills. He was quickly identified as the “Magic Johnson of Gay Pornography!” On the very first NBHAAD, Kory and Magic appeared together throughout the day to encourage involvement with NBHAAD and the options available to living and thriving as HIV+.

Kory Mitchell: tattoos!

No matter his career in gay pornography, after Kory became established professionally, he had “blessed” tattooed on his back shoulder and a cross tattooed onto his abdomen. The purpose was to remind his fans of his Christian faith. Shortly after his diagnosis as HIV+, he had the word “hope” tattooed onto his neck. Instead of the letter “o,” he had a red AIDS awareness ribbon used.

U = U!

Photo-Essay: Man-2-Man!

Man-2-Man!

Background:

Given the body language, physical contact and hair-styles of the naked/nude men presented in the vintage photos below, there remains little doubt over the authenticity of these pictures. The bigotry and disgust directed towards any hint of same gender love supports their validity. Remember, “back in the day” the idea of “gay-for-pay” had practically no audience whatsoever! Segregation was the law of the land in every state except Illinois and homosexuality (gay) was viewed as severe perversion!

Men nude together, circa early 1970’s!

Introduction and Justification:

As a part of ReNude Pride’s annual observance of USA Black History Month, this photo-essay offers proof that decades before the 1969 Stonewall Inn Riots (SIR) heralded the modern gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer+ (GLBTQ+) civil and equal rights movement, the USA African-American culture ventured into limited existence. General society accepted, condoned, endorsed and practiced homophobic policies and prejudices during this era. Government, law enforcement, and religious institutions extolled and sanctioned this discriminatory behaviour, but bravery and courageous African-American GLBTQ+ pioneers cautiously followed hearts and souls down the trail to happiness.

A couple together, circa middle 1960’s!

These photographs confirm not only their sexuality during repression; they also provide evidence of their comfort and practice of their nakedness! Indeed: the pilgrims of bare practitioners!

Sharing a bench, early 1960’s!

These historic and vintage photographs discredit and dispel the popular and widespread myth that the African-American GLBTQ+ community and culture didn’t exist before SIR in 1969. Bare practitioners (same gender loving naturist/nudist) are inherently and naturally African-American as they are with other ethnicities and races everywhere!

Embrace and kiss!

The above couple, from the early 1960’s exemplify the growing acceptance of their same gender loving status among themselves and their community of peers. It didn’t happen overnight but slowly, it began to gain momentum as the “age of love” started to emerge onto the popular culture.

Nude encouragement with the liberation colours!

ReNude Pride appreciates, salutes and supports the bold and proud initiative of the men featured here today! Their efforts and energy made it possible for advances in GLBTQ+ community and culture everywhere!

USA: Black History Month!

The African heritage!

The month of February, annually, is designated Black History Month throughout the USA. Here at ReNude Pride, in addition to the historical feature, we also honour the same gender loving (gay) and the bare practitioner (naturist/nudist) lifestyles of the African-American culture. In addition, we recognize that this culture is not restricted to focus only one month out of the entire year!

February of every year!

In 1607, the first permanent English settlement was established in the “New World” (North America as it is known today). The location was Jamestown, Virginia – which remains a tourist attraction. The first slaves captured from Africa were brought here and sold or traded in late August, 1619. Thus established, slavery was a binding and legal institution throughout the colonial era and up until the conclusion of the American Civil War (fought over the slavery issue) in 1865.

Despite the Declaration of Independence stating the basic “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” clause, the United States of America did not recognize slaves as people but instead as property. Slaves were denied (legally) property rights, education, freedom to travel and most importantly, their dignity. It was as though these captives from Africa did not exist. This situation implanted the idea of racism that remains a major issue in the USA legal, political and social structures even at this time. The killing of a slave – for whatever reason – was not considered murder nor a crime. The stealing of a slave wasn’t seen as kidnapping and/or enforced detention but rather viewed as property theft.

For almost a century and a half after the US civil war, the history of African-Americans was, for all intents and purposes, completely ignored here in almost every public school system. In the minds of educators, administrators and the general public, “they” (Black Americans) came here as slaves and were freed after the civil war and that was enough acknowledgement of African-American history.

Carter G. Woodson, the “Father of Black History Month”

In 1926, noted Black historian Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History announced the second week in February, annually, to be known as “Negro History Week.” This particular week was selected because it contained the birthday of Abraham Lincoln (February 12) and the birthday of Frederick Douglass, a noted Black American advocate for abolishing slavery (February 14).

Engraving From 1868 Featuring The American Writer And Former Slave, Frederick Douglass. Douglass Lived From 1818 Until 1895.

The initial Negro History Week in 1926 was received with limited recognition. The state departments of education in Delaware, North Carolina and West Virginia endorsed the observation as did the public school administrations of the cities of Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Carter G. Woodson wrote in The Negro Journal in support of the celebration: “If a race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world and it stands in danger of being exterminated.”

Regardless of the lack of “official” support for Negro History Week, within the African-American community the reaction and response was dramatic and overwhelming. No matter the ignoring of this occasion by general society and the public school systems, Black churches, fraternal and social organizations and individual educators enthusiastically adopted the concept as an essential cause. It became a distinct and popular annual event involving competitions (both athletic and academic), enactments and festivities. Carter G. Woodson’s ideal instilled a sense of determination and pride within the Black community and race. This achievement earned him the title “Father of Black History Month.”

Adinkra symbolism, Africa!

Throughout the 1930’s, Negro History Week continued to grow in acceptance, slowly but surely. It contradicted the White American myth in the South’s “lost cause” that argued that slaves had been well-treated, fairly cared for and that the Civil War was nothing more than a war of “northern aggression.”

The ongoing development, growth and success of the original Negro History Week soon produced positive results not only within the Persons of Colour community but also in the society in general. The number of states recognizing the designation gradually increased as did the number of businesses, local and national, who identified the opportunity for expansion and increase of profits.

The first observance of the entire month of February as Black History Month occurred at Kent State University in 1970. Then-President Gerald Ford was the first president to acknowledge and publicly recognize Black History Month during the celebration of the USA bicentennial in 1976, fifty years following Carter G. Woodson’s and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History first Negro History Week observance.

President Barack Hussein Obama!

The twenty-first century has brought remarkable achievements to the contents of Black History Month. In November, 2008, Barack Hussein Obama was elected the very first African-American president of the USA – ever! His two terms of office were from January, 2009, until January, 2016.

Vice-President Kamela Harris!

In November, 2019, Kamela Harris was elected the very first woman vice-president and the first African-American vice-president. Her first term of office is from January, 2020, until January, 2024.

Carter G. Woodson is indeed proud of his Black History Month and the fact that his community’s history is still being made, today!

Reflection: Bare Practitioner!

Felipe Ferreira: gay actor, model and emerging “bare practitioner!”

Introduction:

I recently gave a presentation on “Being a Bare Practitioner” at the Deaf Gay Alliance (DGA) Holiday Dinner in Washington, DC, USA. The DGA sought clarification of bare practitioner as the purpose of the address. This delivery to the DGA was facilitated in American Sign Language (ASL) through a certified ASL interpreter. The above photograph and the others below were projected electronically on a large screen for the audience.

For this occasion, I both began and concluded my address with the following:

“As committed, dedicated, honest, open and sincere bare practitioners (bisexual or gay naturists/nudists), all we desire is for the world to see us as we perceive ourselves: all naked, all natural. Nothing to hide and without reason for shame. As bare practitioners, we boldly, confidently, inclusively and proudly embrace our same gender loving sexuality and our body and clothes freedom preference together. This embracement personifies our soul and allows us the fortune of being soulmates within all of our brotherhood. We are proud of our nudity and our same gender love. They are not cause for embarrassment, fear or guilt. That is simply what and who we are in our life.

We also wholeheartedly encourage and endorse the human rights of everyone to patience, respect, tolerance and understanding.”

Photo-Essay: The Bare Practitioner:

Felipe Ferreira, selfie profile

Brazilian-born and openly gay model and emerging actor, Felipe Ferreira, provides the selfie posed photographs used in today’s posting for ReNude Pride. Neither my spouse, Aaron, nor I are personally acquainted with Mr. Ferreira. Author’s note: those of you who know me are aware of my attraction to and obsession with men’s hirsute axilla (hairy armpits). That’s why this post is introduced with the reflection of Felipe’s underarm fur!

Until the publication of this collection of Felipe Ferreira’s self-images, he cautiously and frequently concealed his genitalia (penis and testicles), pubic hair and his armpit hair – as in the picture above. He often used his hands in order to restrict full public exposure. Prior to these, pictures of his full nudity showed only his buttocks, rarely his frontal nakedness, unless it was in a shower photo.

Felipe and his camera!

Mistakenly, both Aaron and I assumed this was due to a “size matters” issue. The actual size of his penis or because of his sparse amount of pubic hair. Now, we all know otherwise; he just needed to relax and increase his level of self-acceptance! Not all of us reach the same level of confidence and self-identification at precisely the identical moment in time.

In the above photograph, we can see that his penis isn’t miniscule and his supply of pubic hair appears sufficient!

Nipple play and more!

He did not pose with poise and pride exclusively for ReNude Pride to feature him in this post entry! Felipe was selected to appear here based on the reflective (mirror) nature of his selfies. My spouse, Aaron, and I both admire his physical attractiveness and his pride tattoo in being publicly same gender loving (gay). A remarkable adornment and quality! This tattoo first caught Aaron’s attention when Felipe began his modeling career back in 2017.

Felipe in an older photo to fully display his “pride” tattoo!

Felipe also depicts and reflects the discovery and recognition of himself as an emerging bare practitioner with this recent series of self-photography. Up until the release of this portfolio, he had been very discreet and modest in posing and engaging in “captures” of both his penis and pubic hair.

The inclusion of his genital area and pubic hair give us the broadening and extension of his “comfort zone” with his body and clothes freedom. Here, his discretion begins to fade away and he appears mature and self-assured!

After his shower!

This particular collection of selfies positively and publicly confirm and represent Felipe’s acceptance and acknowledgement of his bare practitioner pride in our community and in our culture. His blatant and bold chest tattoo highlights and voices for his soul.

In offering a summary of his personal characteristics, Felipe Ferreira gave this quote below:

“Gay and naked is who and what I am as a man. It isn’t a problem or a reason for shame. It is just me!” ~ Felipe Ferreira ~ model and actor

Felipe’s masculine bulge!

Probably the reasoning for the inclusion of the picture immediately above in this visual image file is obvious to all viewing here: it discretely places the focus on the manly bulge that is displayed inside his athletic shorts. It is best that no further comment is expected nor necessary here!

Felipe: a serious view!

His progress in both acceptance and disclosure of his full body has bestowed many beneficial attributes to Felipe personally and professionally. This gallery of self-photography excels in exposing his physical (body) appeal but also his skill, talent and his ability to persevere!

Felipe has been criticized and demonized by executives in the fashion industry for a) openly admitting that he is same gender loving (gay); b) publicly and willingly posing nude and c) being filmed performing in soft gay pornography. Fortunately for him (and us), his following in our community and culture has now exceeded his critics!

Welcome aboard as a fellow bare practitioner, Felipe Ferreira! Naked hugs to you and everyone else visiting here! Stay bold and proud!

Prevention Routines!

Wearing a facial mask!

The wearing of a facial mask reduces the transmission of germs both to and from the person wearing the protection.

All Northern Hemisphere residents are aware that the influenza season is now underway. Not only are questions now posed as to the effectiveness of the current flu immunizations; serious doubts are constantly expressed. Additionally, concerns and fears are arising due to the unknown numbers of variants to the recent coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. A report of the global precautions implemented almost three years ago are critical to a disaster of a repeat outbreak on the economic, social, political and countless other sustaining systems worldwide.

China, our world’s mega-entity continues to remain vulnerable to the initial coronavirus COVID-19 . Another major eruption could prove catastrophic for us all, no matter where we live. Continued diligence and monitoring is essential for the well-being of humanity (and this means us all)!

There are some facts we should all know about disease transmission (spread) that can help us prevent extra discomfort and misery, or worse, in our daily lives. First, there are four criteria that need to be met in order for diseases to be transferred.

Germs

No difference whether bacterial or viral, a pathogen (germ) must be present.

Susceptible

The person needs to be vulnerable (receptive) to the infection. A strong immune system and/or vaccination reduces the reception to a disease. Sometimes, a recent bout with the disease creates antibodies that immediately fight off any new infection.

Quantity

In order to become sick, the pathogens need to be in enough amount (quantity) for the infection to occur.

Entry

There needs to be an opening or point of entry for the germs to infect the body. These can be minor skin abrasions, an open sore, an oral cavity, etc.

If any of these four conditions are not present or met, disease transmission (spread) does not happen!

There are some often overlooked possibilities that all of us encounter in our everyday lives that expose us to all types of nasty microbes that can make us sick. Below are some cesspools of germs just waiting to enter our bodies.

Kitchen sponges and dishrags: According to some, these contain more germs than those found in a toilet bowl. Worse, strains of the drug-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) – also known as “flesh eating bacteria” – have been found in not only commercial eateries but in household kitchens as well. Sanitize (wash) the sponge every time you use your dishwasher or microwave it after dampening it. Throw the dishrag into the washing machine.

Kitchen sinks, toothbrush holders and countertops: Clean these regularly. For sinks and countertops, a tablespoon of bleach in a quart (liter) of water once or twice a week is sufficient. Clean the toothbrush holder weekly in the dishwasher or wash with soapy dishwashing detergent.

Public electronic “touch spots”: Keep personal size hand sanitizer available and use immediately after contact. Wash hands with hot water and soap as soon as possible after contact (in addition to hand sanitizer).

Bathroom faucets, TV remotes, refrigerator handles, doorknobs, etc.: Cold and influenza viruses can live up to 24 hours on these surfaces, perhaps even longer. Regularly clean with a disinfectant disposable wipe or bleach and water.

Shared items: writing utensils, tools, grooming items, etc.: Avoid multiple person use as much as possible. Use disposable gloves, a new pair for each item shared. Throw away immediately after use.

Spatial reserve/social distances: Avoid congestion and keep a safe space all around you when out in public. Maintain a respectful distance from others when waiting in lines to enter or to exit.

Fortify your immune system: One of the most effective ways is diet. Also, orange juice (Vitamin C) helps to keep the immune system operating efficiently.

Frequent handwashing: Wash with hot water and soap as often as possible every day and throughout the year.

It is vital for every one of us to recall the recent practices and routines concerning health to ensure our immune system’s optimal efficiency. We all need to keep our local health services aware of any deviations or inconsistencies in our own health as well as that of those we hold dear and love.
